Globally-traveled and well-respected rapper/Ivy League scholar Malik Starx’s artistry highlights music’s ability to motivate discourse, inspire research, and promote joy. His vocal talent is also present in the classroom, as he is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences (CLPS) at Brown University. Moreover, he counts undergraduate work at Howard University, receiving a Master’s degree from Columbia University, and Doctorate from the University of California-Berkeley in his academic success. Previous to achieving his educational exploits, Starx’s success allowed him to tour alongside the likes of noted folk artist Justin Trawick, plus perform with artists including EDM entrepreneur and electro producer Tittsworth and global dance music icon Dave Nada. Currently, Starx has joined forces with producer Stephon Alexander, a theoretical physics professor at Brown University. The results include jazzy, Afro-Caribbean styled-single “Dancing for Freedom,” alongside Sierre Leoneon vocalist Kanjia. This song is a precursor to the forthcoming EP, titled Higher Science, wherein Malik is rapping over a diversity of Alexander’s musical stylings. “Dancing for Freedom” has 2 Million Plays on Tik Tok

Ariel Garten is a neuroscientist, innovator, mother, and entrepreneur whose driving purpose is to empower and help others overcome mental obstacles in order to live healthy, happy lives and reach their maximum potential. She is the Founder of InteraXon, the makers of Muse: the brain sensing headband. Muse is the award-winning wearable technology that assists and trains meditation and mindfulness. You can find her 2011 TED talk where she explains a bit about the technology.

Before founding InteraXon, Ariel was not only trained as a neuroscientist and psychotherapist, but also started her own international clothing line while she worked in labs researching Parkinson’s disease and hippocampal neurogenesis. Her creativity and entrepreneurial head combined with her fascination with the brain lead her to join forces with two likeminded friends, the later co-founders of InteraXon. Together they founded a Silicon Valley backed startup that allowed people to control computers with their minds, the technology that sparked the creation of Muse. Her team’s technology has been featured in over 1000 media pieces, as well as was the feature showcase at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, an installation that allowed over7,000 people control the lights on the CN tower, Canadian parliament buildings, and Niagara Falls with their brains from across the country.

These days, Ariel can be found at home playing with her 2 year old or on stage across the world speaking about happiness, meditation, understanding mental health, or telling her own innovation story, consistently giving her audiences the tools they need to help them become their best selves.

Listen to my interview on the future of psychotherapy apps with UK psychologist & CEO, Silja Litvin!https://depthpsychologyalliance.com/forum/topics/got-a-i-listen-to-my-interview-on-the-future-of-psychotherapy2018-06-07T18:00:43.000Z2018-06-07T18:00:43.000ZDavid Van Nuyshttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DavidVanNuys

Silja Litvin was born in Germany but moved to Southern California early in her life. Exposed to many diverse cultures early in life, she developed an insatiable curiosity for the human condition leading to her pursuing a degree in psychology.

She began her Masters at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, graduating in Clinical Psychology and Systemic Family Therapy in 2013. Alongside her education as a Systemic Family Therapist in 2015, she began her PhD in Clinical Psychology.

A child of the digital generation, Silja was looking for ways to use apps and social media to help people suffering from mental issues. She went on to create a psychological mobile app that helps users identify and self-manage depression. With this idea, she undertook her PhD thesis, thus ensuring it to be evidence based and ethically sound.

Now she is venturing into the world of AI, gamification and chatbots to find a way to be able to help people help themselves, launching the beta of her emotional fitness game eQuoo in New Zealand and Australia.

You can email Silja to download eQuoo and become a beta tester: silja@equoogame.com
