I would like to suggest we meet at 12:30 U.S. PT on Friday, October 28 for our next board meeting. Please mark your calendars if you can make it, and let me know directly if you can’t so we can find another time to catch up.

In that meeting we can do a more thorough update, and allocate time to questions and feedback on the existing projects. Hoping there will be progress on all of them over the next few weeks to update you on as well.

Please read through the following attachments when you have some time. Hopefully, this will give you a good feel for the status of some projects you know about as well as introducing a new one or two that you may not.

If you have immediate feedback or questions—or you can offer help in any of the suggested ways—please feel free to email or call me directly, or to reply here if you think it will be helpful to the group.

Thank you each for the role you fill for the greater depth community, as well as for the support you continue to provide to me personally in this quest.

Board-Update-0916.docx

Online-Symposium-Fall-2016-Depth-Psychology-Alliance-Earth-Climate-Dreams.pdf

New Document for your Use: Ways for Organizations to Participate and Promote via Depth Psychology Alliancehttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/new-document-for-your-use-ways-for-organizations-to-participate-a2016-08-17T00:10:11.000Z2016-08-17T00:10:11.000ZBonnie Brighthttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/BonnieBright

HI everyone,

I was thrilled to see that the SF Jung Institute just joined the Alliance as an Organization member. I have generated a new document that suggests ideas for organizations to utilize what the Alliance has to offer, and wanted to share it with you all in case you come across organizations you would like to bring into the fold.

You can view it on the Alliance at this link, (found under the ADVERTISE tab, or I'm also attaching it here as a PDF)

I remain deeply in awe of each of you and feel so much gratitude for our collaboration. We missed those of who couldn’t attend; you were each very much with us in spirit (Mark, Donna, Brent, Jennifer)

***I am attaching the PowerPoint summary of what we discussed here in this message here:

Alliance Reboot-Board Meeting Topics-070816.pdf

and you can click here for the video recording of the meeting for those who want to listen/relisten. The password for the video is "reboot".

To reiterate what we talked about today (or if you were in attendance today, you can skip the rest and see the bullet points in the PowerPoint):

1. After taking time to reflect on my own role in Depth Psychology Alliance, I have emerged with renewed commitment based on my capacity to

1) integrate my own creative work (writing, research, content creation) into the heart of my work for the Alliance and

2) focus on generating personal income to compensate my daily efforts and my longterm vision in creating the Alliance, and to pay admin help so I don’t get stuck doing as much of the things that don’t energize me or feed me.

To this end, I’ll be moving forward concretely on plans I know I can personally execute and which offer me something in return. For example, I’m working to implement a paid membership where those who pay get things from me that I enjoyed creating: themed packages including articles, interviews, collaboration opportunities, knowledge sharing, resources, etc. and which I know I can personally deliver monthly. Extra “offerings" I won't have either bandwidth or personal passion for will still be up for grabs for any board member who has a desire, i.e. for certain topics, programs, or events, including everything from Deep Meet and Greets to Community Conversations to courses.

2. I am suggesting we convert the Administrative board into the Advisory board so each of you can focus on what aspect of the Alliance has the most juice for you (much as I am doing for myself) and freeing up any concerns, resistance, or confusion you’ve struggled with around exactly how to “help” when what I really need is logistical, technical and administrative help to do what needs to be done.

As my plans take shape and begin to generate income, I’ll be paying more admin people for those roles, and better utilizing each of your gifts as advisors in one on-one-ad hoc calls (or maybe occasional small groups) or quarterly board meetings (instead of monthly).

As board members, you will have first crack at offering programs and events that have passion for you and/or that will help you gain visibility and/or income in your own career and work. For events that are free, I’m hoping you will be able to do some of your own basic legwork (like posting the Event on the Alliance) and then we’ll tap into admin help for whatever you can’t do, and for longer paid courses, if you are willing to profit share with me/Alliance for enabling and facilitating your offerings, you will keep 50% if the Alliance covers the registration setup, registrant management, and promotion, or possibly 60% if you cover some of those for yourself. At the old 80/20% split I simply couldn’t make it work, so these figures have to be revised as you see here. I'm hoping board members will still host signature events like Deep Meet & Greet, Community Conversations, and Dinner & Depth. We'll offer those as we can, and pull from members if we want to do them more regularly than board members can commit to.

I’ve set out a number of initiatives I want to implement. None of these are new to you, but are, in fact, all variously developed ideas that will make the Alliance more valuable in connecting people, educating, and extending depth psychology in the world. First steps are the survey and revamping the web site (already in progress) to accomodate the paid membership options and to communicate our message clearly. All the next items need timelines put to them, but many of them have been developed through our committees and meetings over the past years, so they shouldn’t be too hard to implement in time.

Again, I’m attaching here a copy of the PowerPoint we covered today and the password protected recording of today’s board meeting is at the following link, https://vimeo.com/173974090. Password is “reboot”.

Thank you again. Please email or call with any needs, questions, or comments. I'm happy to set something up with you one on one.I also encourage you to post things pertaining to the overall organization here in the Board group on the Alliance so we can all follow (and find) them more efficiently.

In gratitude,

Great seeing those who could attend today.

Here are the next steps we discussed for ourselves:

Please email me and Bonnie your ideas for what you can contribute to making a paid level of membership worthwhile. Example: I have quite a bit of audio and documentary depth psychology material available from classes I no longer teach. It could be put behind a paywall for a tier of paid membership above the free level.

Think about and email us about a topic you'd be willing to contribute to our newsletter. It need not be a long article.

Dorene, Eva, Karey, and I will get back to you when we've put together a manual for how to guide new event presenters through the process. Meanwhile, our Friday Operations Committee meetings at noon PST are open: feel free to drop in via Zoom and participate in discussions about the tier $ arrangements we'll look at and at the strategic plan for the Alliance we need to design.

Zoom Instructions--Final Revision--4/13/2016https://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/zoom-instructions-final-revision-4-11-20162016-04-11T23:42:59.000Z2016-04-11T23:42:59.000ZDorene Mahoneyhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DoreneMahoney

This document incorporates all of Bonnie's revisions and clarifications.
Meeting called to order at 12:30p PST.

Opening Ritual (Dorene)

Welcome & Announcements (Taken from throughout the meeting) (James)

We welcomed new board member, Jennifer Selig.

No one has created and posted their 2-3-minute video about what we appreciate about the Alliance and/or why we choose to serve on the board. Dorene agreed to draft simple how-to instructions for doing so through Zoom; and Jennifer spoke of how easy it is to do it on one’s phone. Everyone is asked to create a video before the next board meeting.

From Bonnie: Tentatively, Jerome Bernstein has agreed to present at the October conference. Like Meredith Sabini, he’s not wild about the current title. Meredith suggested a title along the lines the Red Book references to the Spirit of the Depths (versus the Spirit of the Times). Bonnie is working with Jennifer and others to firm up conference details.

From Bonnie: Spoke with Aizenstat about the Global Dream Initiative—he wants to get a website up in time for the April 40th Anniversary. Bonnie sees no potential connection or opportunity for the Alliance at this time.

Bonnie will likely have an Alliance table at the Pacifica 40th Anniversary gala, and Jennifer will see about space on campus to host a social gathering for Alliance members.

All board members are invited to drop in on weekly operations meetings whenever they can (Fridays at noon, the same link as board meetings)—all are welcome!

Next month’s opening and closing rituals will be done by Craig.

Check-ins, including status of upcoming events (James)

Jeff: His Community Conversation—a Depth Psychology Exploration on Climate Change—takes place on March 24th. The Community Conversation about the election will now be pushed to a date closer to the November election (possibly September). Is watching what others are doing, like one by Tom Singer in August.

James: Community Conversation on the trauma of Racism—Souls of White Folk—is this Saturday March 12th; Happiness is a Warm Gun is on March 16th; and Jung 101 starts on March 19th. All board members welcome.

Dorene: Now had four sessions of Let’s Talk Work!. Low attendance, but she feels called to continue the program—“build it and they will come.” Believes that this program, like the Deep Meet & Greets, fills an important niche on the Alliance—a reliable and consistent place and time where members can be heard and witnessed (different from events that start and stop). She’s not getting the nuts and bolts questions she expected. Rather, callers pose similar questions around the discomfort of being stuck between work that is no longer meaningful and no vision yet of something new. Jeff recommended using Twitter to boost attendance.

Mark: Next Deep Meet & Greet is on Thursday night, 4/14. The last one (3/8) had low attendance, maybe because of election night. Mark and Donna will continue to schedule these every 4-6 weeks, but they welcome other board members hosting additional ones to make them more frequent. A new writing group with Donna May—Seeding Soul Stories—begins on 4/5.

Jennifer: Glad to be joining the Alliance board. Students in her Pacifica programs are required to invest 30 hours in depth-related activities outside of their coursework, and she imagines pointing them to the Alliance.

Karey: Still finishing her executive master’s and completing her obligations to the board of the Stan Grof Holotropic Breathwork organization. Wants to spend more time on the Alliance. Will be in Europe during the 40th anniversary celebration.

Eva: Launching The Fool’s Journey on April Fool’s Day 4/1, about the archetypal level of the individuation journey. Has been asked to present Awakening the Dream in May in Santa Cruz and is looking at providing the same program on the Alliance. Eva is available and ready to help with the October conference.

Gary: Has two Introductory presentations and IndieGogo launch parties coming up (3/16 at 7p and 3/20 at 11a PST) to raise funds to self-publish his new book, Our Archetypal Nature. (If you want to join either event, go to http://www.archetypalnature.com/webinars.) He’s posted two new articles in the Alliance Facebook group, and his reading circle—Addiction to Perfection—is going well (two sessions left).

Craig: Immersed in end-of-school-year obligations, but talking with Brian Swimme about a joint conversation on the Alliance about cosmology and myth.

Review/Discussion of a “Netiquette” Policy (James)

Discussion around implementing a “Depth Netiquette” policy that would set standards and guidelines for content and tone of posts in the Forum and elsewhere on the website. Dorene suggested expanding the depth view in the policy language, and Eva suggested adding reference to “keeping a spirit of inquiry” in posts where opinions are strong and complexes can be triggered. The policy will be refined in next Friday’s 3/18 Ops Meeting and sent to the full board for final review.

Draft Standards for Internet Connectivity (Dorene)

Dorene presented some initial guidance by tech volunteer Jeremy Murray around minimum Internet connectivity/reliability standards for Alliance presenters. It was suggested that shutting off Wi-Fi and attaching an Ethernet cord boosts reliability. Dorene has pulled together a rough and incomplete draft of several of Bonnie’s documents on how to use Zoom (not distributed yet). She agreed to include Jeremy’s final recommendations and send the whole document to the board for final review.

Closing Ritual (Dorene)

Next month’s board meeting: April 8th from 12:30-2:00p PDT. Follow the Zoom link we are always use:

Letting you know we have a new calendar page on the Alliance to help track and feature events. It’s not perfect—there’s still not a way to integrate calendar software into the Ning platform (that I know of), so we had this created as a graphic and it will have to be done each month. Given that it’s a graphic, the words are quite small, so some people may not find it helpful. As with so many things, we’re testing it.

It does give you a feel for how much activity we have at the moment--though there's not much scheduled beyond what you see through the first week in April....Just saying!

Please review when you have a moment—especially if you have an upcoming event of your own—to make sure it’s accurate and give your feedback:

I want to make sure everyone on the board formally has access to the various event postings in case you need to edit them. Many of us have pending or upcoming events and I know it often occurs to make a word change her or there, or to fix spacing issues, etc. that may have been overlooked in the posting phase.

I think we’ve had a good run for a few weeks now with lots of board members proposing events, and Kelly (our web/setup person) and Dara (our graphics person) have really done an amazing job of figuring out and streamlining the process for incoming proposals. I’m thinking for future, however, it may be a better use of our resources if each board member sets up their own event as they can and we focus Dara and Kelly on member proposals. We can talk more about that as we go.

Meanwhile, for now, the access info for both FB and the Alliance is (email) communityed@depthpsychalliance.com, pass: 4depthpsych. Just be sure if you go in under this profile that you sign out immediately as you finish.

If you really need help and don’t know where to start, you can contact Kelly (kelly@speedyblogsetup.com), or if you feel comfortable, you can go into to your own event and make changes as you see fit.

Eva—we’ll still plan to get your upcoming Tarot event up, so we’ll be in touch separately about that.

Reminder: I’ll be traveling Mar. 1-21, and will check email as I can but it may not be every day.

Thanks to everyone who has put up events so far. Very exciting to see it coming together.

Dara (pronounced "dare-uh": dara.hopp@gmail.com

Kelly (a guy): kelly@speedyblogsetup.com

Remember, they are both being paid a minimal amount but still less than they deserve, so please consider carefully before you ask them to do anything significant.

Also, most likely they both have items in the queue to get new offerings up, so new requests also need to be taken into account in our EventStream.

Both of them would welcome paying work in either graphic design for Dara, or web design for Kelly so if you need a resource for your own work or for a colleague or friend, feel free to consider them!

We discussed many scenarios, but I mentioned (and a couple of us agree) that I would still hope we might keep the online community mostly free--but appeal to members to join the "organization" as members.

In return, they might get some perks--a subscription to Depth Insights journal (currently free, but we would move to subscription fees for all others), free listing on Depth Psychology List (currently $24 to list), and access to some of the webinars and community conversations (currently free to everyone, but could also move to paid registration for everyone except Alliance paying members).

If we add Depth Insights, we could only charge per year since it only comes out 2x/year. If were don't we could give people the option to pay monthly instead (with the option to stop anytime)

All ideas on the table, but I'd like to see us implement something in the next couple of months. Even if we get 100 people paying $10 monthly, it would make a huge difference.

I came across this page for IAJS today and wanted to suggest you all take a look at it: http://jungstudies.net/welcome-to-the-iajs/

If you know of other orgs that have membership pages, please list them here below so we can look at market rates, "competitors", and assess for creative ideas.

1. Sustaining membership option (Pros and cons of Pro or Gold membership where those who pay annual dues are members of Depth Alliance as an organization, and get specific benefits) vs. those who continue to access the web pages for free

2. Advertising/Sponsorship package options

3. Regional meetings/hives

4. Conference update

5. Pacifica 40th anniversary April conference as opp for Alliance board/members gathering

As you know, we’ve been talking for years about setting up a network of “real-world” hives—local/regional meetings or groups that gather under the umbrella of the Alliance.

Even 3-4 years ago I had half a dozen people from all over the US (Philadelphia, Chicago, Santa Fe , San Fran, Sacramento.) indicate an interest in it—but I could never follow up by myself.

The idea has recently resurfaced, as you know, and I think it’s because the time is right. The Alliance is far more known, has good credibility, and I think people are hungry for in-person contact. I believe if we simply set some parameters and ask for proposals, much like those for people who want to offer online events, we could gain some immediate traction.

In fact, today I came across an excellent description of how IASD is doing exactly that. They write:

IASD encourages its members to host regional meetings and co-sponsored events, and IASD will provide logistical and financial support to promote such events.

The benefits of regional meetings and co-sponsored events are twofold. First, they help IASD members in a particular geographical region to meet each other, socialize, network, and share their different approaches to dreams. Second, they help to advance the basic mission of IASD, which is to broaden public awareness and appreciation of dreams.

Although these are the primary goals, another aim is to generate new funds for IASD's educational and outreach programs

Take a look when you have a moment. I would love your feedback, and if anyone feels able to take on the task of drafting something similar for the Alliance site, that would be a huge offering. We can simply put it up on a page and start pointing people's attention to it.

February 2016 Board Meeting Minuteshttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/february-2016-board-meeting-minutes2016-02-13T16:57:55.000Z2016-02-13T16:57:55.000ZDorene Mahoneyhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DoreneMahoney

Administrative Board Meeting Minutes

2016 Board Member Update and Commitments (Craig)

Craig: Wants to create and offer two programs:

Based on family history in the military, wants to turn his experience into something about how military education, strategy and tactics can be used for peace—e.g., the peaceful warrior.

His 5-session class on applied myth.

James: Interested in creating programs that are repeatable. Some topics:

Jung Basics 101: Intro to Jung, loosely like Map of the Soul.

A second basic class: Applied Jungian Psychology (includes individuation and different processes like dream work and active imagination; pattern recognition)

In Summer: Intro to Islam, the basics from a depth perspective.

In Fall: DP approach to music; trauma

Also—world religions from a depth perspective.

Dorene: Launching Let’s Talk Work! a twice-weekly free offering on becoming and being employed, starting 3/1 at 7:30p PT.

Mark: Presenting with Donna an experiential writing class and continuing the Deep Meet & Greets (next one on 3/1 at 5:00p PT). Figuratively speaking, wants to help individuals “Open All the Doors” in their work with the unconscious.

Donna: On 4/5 launching the experiential writing class with Mark and the 3/1 Deep Meet & Greet.

Jeff: His book on climate change is finally out, and he has two approved proposals:

March: psychological perspective on climate change.

May: psychological perspective on the election.

Considering offering an existing program on “Jung Meets the Beatles” that shows how the band’s music followed Jung’s 4 developmental stages.

Gary: Launching a Reading Circle on Marion Woodman’s work around addiction.

Karey: Finishing up a master’s thesis in Neuroscience for which her subject is Disney. May consider offering something related on the Alliance.

Bonnie: Bonnie is taking on the program manager role until further notice. Because of all the recent event proposals, she is refining an “EventStream,” which outlines the entire process from conception of the idea, through the application and approval process, to the day of launch. Members can download the proposal instructions from under the Home tab on the site. [Karey and Jeff want to be copied on all proposals.]

Graphics artist Dara Hopp has agreed to help design the imagery and look of event ads. Kelly Kunzler will support Bonnie in arranging for program set-up and registration, as well as the journal (ezine) and other web stuff. Both individuals are working for very low hourly rates in exchange for receiving some percentage of paid programs.

Jeremy Murray is looking for a better calendaring system than GroupLoop, which doesn’t allow for recurring meetings.

First Annual Alliance Conference—Accessing the Unconscious (Bonnie)

Dates are set: Wednesday/Thursday (10/26 or 27) through Sunday (10/30). Venue: Unity Church in San Francisco. Cost: about $12,000 for rooms, set-up, and A/V. Karey has ideas for food options. Key-notes about 90 minutes; break-outs about 30 minutes. Some speakers under consideration:

Stuart Brown (in Monterey; discovered Joseph Campbell)

Stan Grof—bridging depth with the transpersonal community

Malidoma Some

Meredith Sabini

Susan Rowland

Jerome Bernstein

Lawrence Hillman

Phil Cousineau

Becoming a Sponsor of CE’s (Dorene)

Presented noteworthy points about the application process:

APA requires that every program ad contain the words: “Depth Psychology Alliance is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists and maintains responsibility for this program and its content.”—in light of concerns about the APA’s role in torture, this would be onerous to many board members.

Both the CA Psychological Association and APA require keeping 5 years of detailed administrative/educational records, including course descriptions, syllabi, learning objectives, instructor CVs and their specific expertise, attendance records, and who was awarded credit.

Both organizations require that content be presented at the post-doctoral level.

It was discussed and agreed that applying to offer CE’s for our educational programs is premature and may not be in the interests of our mission to get DP out to the masses. Dorene will stop the application process and hang onto all the information until the board directs otherwise.

Closing Ritual (James).

I still need to go in and fill in most of the Registration fees currently in play—and a couple of you have given me some slightly updated info since I updated this, but it’s a start so you can get a feel for what’s in the pipeline and especially what dates.

Note the spread: we have events almost every day of the week at one point or another—and very little duplication. This was completely organic, by the way.

I’ll try to keep this updated regularly (a couple of times a week) in the GroupLoop site.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Alliance-EVENT-Tracker.xlsx

Event Stream Process: Updates and Important Infohttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/event-stream-process-updates-and-important-info2016-02-10T05:01:29.000Z2016-02-10T05:01:29.000ZBonnie Brighthttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/BonnieBright

I continue to be very excited about the prospect of adding more—and more paid—events to start generating income for the Alliance (and hopefully for some of you!). Gary, Dorene, and Mark and Donna now actively have events that are in process and will be posted in next few days, if not already. (If you are considering offering an event, please check with them for dates/times so we don’t run into conflicts until they are formally posted. Gary and Dorene’s events are on the calendar in GroupLoop already, for the next several weeks at least).

You may have seen by now that I set up a “Submit a Proposal” page (under the Home tab) on the Alliance, and I continue to be actively developing our EventStream process and and training our new “staff,” Kelly, Dara, and Jeremy, who I will introduce formally by email to the board in the next few days.
I wanted to share a few thoughts with you so you’re on the same page, and also welcome any comments or feedback if you see anything that needs to be addressed.

I’m envisioning a streamlined, automated “Event Stream”—where as new proposals for programs come in and are approved, I send them to both Dara, our graphics person, and to Kelly, our programs setup person who is creating the registration process, posting the event pages on the Alliance and on FB— and also copying Jeremy who will be doing the engineering for some of the events, so he can see what’s coming down the pipeline and see if he will be available to engineer on that date.

Dara will have to do her part first. Once she gets that proposal, she will let me and Kelly know what her projected timeline for completing the graphic for the new event will be so we can both plan ahead. Once the graphic is done, she will send it to Kelly directly (and copy me) and he’ll then take up the baton to get the postings done. As we are asking people to make the proposal at least 4-6 weeks before the event starts, we have a week or so to get the events set up and still be able to market them.

Given that, and given the very limited time both Dara and Kelly can currently contribute, here’s what I suggest for prioritizing—and it’s simple: Paid events take priority over free events, not only because they portend money coming in, but also because we will need the MAXIMUM amount of lead time to market and promote them because people have to pay.

I’m hoping as the process becomes more habitual for them, we’ll create templates and processes where they can both address each event very quickly and simply in a short period of time. I also want to remind everyone that, while we are going to be paying them both where we can, we need to use their time wisely—so if you end up offering an event or program that utilizes their services, it might be helpful to adopt a “good enough” process where we take what we get, and don’t insist on big changes once the event enters the Event Stream. Making minimal changes to a word here or there is always an option, of course—but I’m imagining they will be able to just do their work and post without any of us having to see it in advance and approve it (though I probably will anyway).

On that note, after some feedback from the Ops Council, I am moving forward with the idea of a 50/50 split with presenters (with a cap that still needs to be determined)—except for board members, whom I think could warrant 80/20 as long as you are willing and able to promote heavily to your own networks as well. We will also wants rights, or to share rights at least, for content so that we can eventually resell some recorded programs.

Let me know if you have feedback or questions on any of this, and we can discuss more in the Board Meeting on Friday if needed.

Please feel free to copy and send this text to anyone you know who might be interested.

I've also set up a "Make a Proposal" page on the Alliance site under the 'Home' tab (each of the four DEEP tabs now include link to that page as well).

We will keep the Proposal form (formerly called 1-page Event form) updated on the "Make a Proposal" page--so you can always find the most current version there if you need it. It will also be updated regularly in GroupLoop.

All board members are also welcome to start using the process immediately for your own offerings. Now that we have a graphics person and a programs assistant to set up the events (though both of them have limited time), we should be able to start moving into a more active offerings phase.

Dear ....,

I am reaching out to you suggest you consider offering an online experiential or educational event through Depth Psychology Alliance.

At Depth Psychology Alliance, our offerings encourage community members to “Delve DEEP into soul.” The word DEEP is an acronym for four types of offerings that empower the community to: Dialogue, Explore, Experience, Pollinate.

We have a simple process in place to accept proposals in any of the following general categories:

DIALOGUE Offerings: Host a "community conversation" on a depth theme of your choice. You can present for a few minutes, then invite others to turn on their cameras and microphones for spontaneous or guided conversation on the topic—or put together a panel of 3-5 people instead, if you prefer.

EXPLORE Offerings: Offer online educational lectures, presentations, webinars, courses, and webinar series

EXPERIENCE Offerings: Lead an online group in dreamwork, active imagination, writing, art, storytelling, or another experiential depth process or method of your choice

POLLINATE Offerings: Help others extend depth psychology in the world through offerings to help them find their calling, develop core skills, build their business, write for publication, or access the unconscious to gain direction and to grow, among others.

To get started, please visit the following page: http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/make-a-program-proposal. There, you can download and fill out the proposal form and email it to Programs@DepthPsychologyAlliance.com. Once you do, we’ll evaluate the proposed program we will contact you about next steps for getting your event up and running, including dates, compensation, and promotion.

We appreciate your interest in helping us make depth-oriented traditions and skills widely and affordably available to an interested public. Feel free to email me with questions about this form.

Thanks so much,

Needed: ideas for what to offer subscribershttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/needed-ideas-for-what-to-offer-subscribers2016-01-11T22:55:30.000Z2016-01-11T22:55:30.000ZCraig Chalquist, PhDhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/CraigChalquistPhD

Hi everyone,

Bonnie and I were talking today about the various levels of membership possible, including one that would be ongoing (six months, a year, whatever). What sorts of gifts or services can we offer these subscribers and, once we do it, fundraising contributors?

One idea would be to ask an expert to record an entire series of talks or videos on a particular special topic: DP and alchemy, for instance. The gift for a yearly subscription would be the entire series, perhaps on DVD. That's what the classical music station does here on the Bay Area during fundraisers: if you get on a yearly plan, we'll give you a carefully chosen selection of recent Beethoven concert pieces, etc.

What ideas do you have? Please add some here, thanks.

January 2016 Board Meeting Minuteshttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/january-2016-board-meeting-minutes2016-01-09T01:14:27.000Z2016-01-09T01:14:27.000ZDorene Mahoneyhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DoreneMahoney

Attached, as well as the draft document that details six general areas of need as relates to call, vocation, work, or career that our members may have.

2016-01-08--JanuaryBdMtgMins.doc

Pollinate--Who do we serve.docx

New Guide—Getting Started: Offering Events or Programshttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/new-guide-getting-started-offering-events-or-programs2016-01-09T00:33:02.000Z2016-01-09T00:33:02.000ZBonnie Brighthttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/BonnieBright

I’m attaching a document here to guide you through how to get started to offer an program event.

Getting Started: Overview and Process of

Offering an Event via Depth Psychology Alliance

Internal Draft Document as of 1-8-15

Created by Bonnie Bright

Step 1: Download the “Potential Presenter Questionnaire” (from the Document Library on GroupLoop (http://depthpsychologyalliance.grouploop.com/documents ) and go through those 24+ questions to help you vision your event and decide what you want to offer. There is a lot that needs to be considered, so this is designed to help you—and hopefully not overwhelm you. If you need help or want to speak to someone about it, as we get Audra up and running, she will be hosting live conversations with people as needed to provide clarification and suggestions. We are currently recommending everyone offer a free event to begin, unless you already have a strong following and good marketing.

Once you have an idea of what you want, move to Step 2.

Step 2: Download the 1-page Event Proposal, fill it out, and submit to the Programs Manager at programs@depthpsychologyalliance.com (Currently Audra Miller) and copy Bonnie (bonniebright@depthinsights.com), Craig (Craig@Chalquist.com) and Audra Miller (audramilleryoga@gmail.com). The language you include on this 1-page proposal will largely be used when we post the Event, so make sure it’s concise and complete. They (and others on the Approval committee (TBD)) will review. If changes are suggested, you will be notified. If the event is approved, you may move to Step 3.

All approved Event Proposals will be uploaded by the Review Committee to the GroupLoop Library so we have a history and record of them.

Step 3: Download the Event Process Setup & Timeline. Determine potential dates and work with Audra to make sure we have enough advance time to set up the event and get all the pieces in place and market it. Make sure you check the GroupLoop calendar so you are aware if you are booking at the same time as another event. Eventually, this will happen and it’s fine—we have enough Zoom licenses to run two or more events at once, but initially we want to be cautious about splitting audiences until we get more visibility around our ongoing and increasing offerings.

Step 4: Once the event is scheduled, it moves into the EventStream process managed by Audra. This will include three phases:

Event Set Up

Promotion

Presenter Training and Support

Registrant/Participant Support

Event Setup includes:

1. Setting the event in Zoom (video) or Instant Teleseminar (audio)

2. Develop a graphic to be used in various ways (Dara Hopp is a graphic designer who has volunteered her support for this starting in January)

3. Setting up registration (Depth Alliance currently uses Constant Contact) including pricing if the event is not free. Presenters can have a say on pricing, of course, but the plan is to have fairly standard pricing we develop based on what seems to work as we go along (i.e. $20 for single hour-long event; $99 for 4-week series; etc) . Setting up registration requires having language the registrants automatically receives when their registration is complete. This might include access information for the actual event, info on recommended readings or assignments in advance, how to join a written forum, etc.

4. Setting up the online written group participants (if there is one)

5. Setting up the Alliance Event page

6. Setting up a Facebook Event page via Depth Psychology Alliance

Promotion (in no particular order)

Direct invitation emailed to all members of Depth Psychology Alliance so they can RSVP on the Alliance Event Page

Event shared to Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn via Alliance (and related accounts—including Depth Insights, Depth Psychology List).

Event notice emailed to Board Members with request to share to their social media accounts and networks.

Alliance newsletter that goes to 4700+ subscribers

Message broadcast that goes by email to all members of the Alliance

Emailed to SSU alumni list (Bonnie & Dorene have access)

If the event is a paid event, Facebook ads will be placed.

Presenter Training & Support

Execution: If the presenter is not already using their own delivery/broadcast system or doesn’t know Zoom, an engineer will be required to sit through the event to start/record the session, deal with any technical issues, mute/unmute attendees as needed, manage Q&A or chat, etc.

Test Run: If needed, the presenter will need to schedule a test session on Zoom with an “engineer” (currently Audra, Jeremy, or Bonnie) to make sure they know how to get on and that audio and video works. They will also communicate needs like having the engineer share images, PowerPoint, or video if the presenter isn’t comfortable sharing their screen.

Registrant/Participant Support

Participants will need a go-to person for questions about the group and about getting into a written group and/or accessing a session via Zoom or Instant Teleseminar. Jeremy, as our Tech Support volunteer, will take on technical questions and issues as he can. Reach Jeremy via Tech@depthpsychologyalliance.com

New Online Calendar and Document Libraryhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/new-online-calendar-and-document-library2016-01-08T22:48:10.000Z2016-01-08T22:48:10.000ZBonnie Brighthttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/BonnieBright

Here is the link to the new online calendar and document library: http://depthpsychologyalliance.grouploop.com

As I see it, for individuals who are involved in committees, it could change the way we each look at what we are doing, or what we want to do.

What we have seen, after a few months of working in the previous dedicated committee format is that the Alliance is increasingly dedicating itself to events—to that extent that each of the four committees are actually involved in or charged with creating events. In fact, it is really what the Alliance is all about. All those events that are now being offered or considered typically fall somewhere within the four areas we articulate on the home page (and the navigation menu): Dialogue, Explore, Experience, and Pollinate.

For example, the Deep Meet and Greet is really an event that focuses on Dialogue—interaction, interconnection among Alliance members, creating a welcome and valued member experience.

More traditional webinars such as the Cross-Cultural/Archetypal Psychology webinar with Pat Berry and Gustavo Barcellos that took place on December 10 is an example of an event that might primarily fall in the Explore category (these are the events that are mostly educational).

A dream group, or a group such as the Vocation group you may have heard about was highly Experiential—that is, a group that focuses on actually using Depth Methods such as Active Imagination, Dreamwork, using the IChing or Tarot, etc.. These, of course, fall into the Experience category.

“Pollinate” events will be focused on how to help people access tools or resources that will help them extend depth psychology in the world. These offerings will range for “how to” kinds of classes that teach people writing, publishing, how to build workshops or webinars, or marketing/promotion— through to depth coaching groups or courses that help individuals discover their calling and identify how to share their work or amplify an existing practice.

With the evolving understanding that all board members, volunteers, and likely many community members could and should be able to vision events of one kind or another and make them come to fruition, we wanted to open the opportunity and suggest that committees become ad hoc, or project-based—that is, they come together around a particular project, and once that project is complete, they either dissolve or shift focus to another project. This also relieves pressure from any one committee or committee chair to make events happen. Instead anyone who has the time and passion to take on a project can do so, either championing or leading a project on their own by plugging into our emerging EventStream process (Vision, Validate, Vivify)

To that end, we are implementing a “Library of Ideas” where anyone who would like to see a certain event or program take wing can fill out a standard 1-page proposal (Vision) and have it reviewed (Validated) by the board (or a review board) for relevance, ease and/or cost of implementation, and experience/credibility of the presenter, and then make it come to life (Vivify) by plugging it into the program management process. These ideas/proposals may be created by anyone, even if it is not something they would want to teach or facilitate directly.

Once the idea goes into the Library, others may step up to teach or lead it, or the sponsor may seek out or identify someone else to do it. If other board members, volunteers, or Alliance members want to be involved in making it happen, a new ad-hoc committee comes into being—or the sponsor may take it to an existing committee/task force and see if they will take it on.

Under this new format, the previous committees, especially the Education committee led by James and the Programs/Events committee led by Donna, for example, will likely continue to exist much as they have, but they will be free to focus on the programs or events that James and Donna personally want to champion and pursue.

I know James, for instance, initially dedicated himself to the Education committee with a desire to help create a more sophisticated and detailed certificate program in Depth Psychology, so hopefully he will continue to focus on that with the existing committee members. He has been distracted over past months with other educational events/standalone webinars, etc. that, while educational, aren’t necessarily what he would ultimately like to focus on. This allows him to return his focus to a more specific goal.

Donna, for example, has lots of ideas in areas of her own personal interest, storytelling, writing, etc. that she will want to pursue on behalf of the Alliance; she also has a gift for helping and supporting others who want to Vision and Vivify their own offerings, so I suspect she (and that group) will not be short of projects anytime soon!

I just wanted to reiterate how grateful we are for your continued engagement and desire to be involved. As a volunteer-led organization, every single one of us counts. We want to continually ensure that each of us has the opportunity to be involved a way that makes sense and that supports and enriches any individual’s gifts, desires, goals, and passions.

I see this shift as a wonderful opportunity to assess if there is anything else/different you would like to be working on than you have been in past months—and, by the way, that includes helping with the process itself. As you can imagine, there is a lot that needs to happen in the way of 1) helping everyone organize their ideas for events or programs, along with their filling out the proper proposal forms and 2)building the “Library of Ideas,” then actually 3) executing on the ideas. We will need more people available to interact with project sponsors and presenter/facilitators, to help get event registrations set up and notices on the calendar, and to keep everyone involved up to date. It’s an extensive process, and one that is bound to grow exponentially in 2016.

I want to continue to encourage everyone to involve yourself in at least one working group/ad hoc committee. Besides Donna's group and James' group which both have active projects under discussion, there is also the evolving Pollinate group, initiated by me but led in large part by Dorene, and the Conference Planning group, which will be primarily headed up by Brent, with input from Jennifer Selig, one of our volunteers and core faculty at Pacifica. I will continue to be involved in each of these where I can.

If you are planning to lead or sponsor an upcoming event or group, please reach out to Audra Miller (Audra Miller) and copy the Ops Committee (Craig, Bonnie, Dorene, and James) so we can make sure we are tracking and troubleshooting the process as we get up and running.

Pollinate committee meeting Monday, December 14 at 2:30 pm PT -https://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/pollinate-committee-meeting-monday-december-14-at-2-30-pm-pt2015-12-14T04:55:23.000Z2015-12-14T04:55:23.000ZDepth Alliance Boardhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DepthAllianceBoard

Pollinate committee meeting Monday, December 14 at 2:30 pm PT -

Bonnie Bright: Just finished the cross-cultural conversation with Patricia Berry and Gustavo Barcellos (www.archetypica.com) from a Jungian organization in Brazil; town hall on 12/2 a big success; begins a 4-week course on January 6th with Robert Romanyshyn and Bryan Tracy on Cultivating Poetic Sensibility in a Wired World; co-facilitating Navigating and Coping in the holidays with Eva this afternoon; next meeting of the Pollinate committee on 2/14 at 2:30p PST; next meeting of Conference task force to be announced for January.

Elements would be instruction, group coaching, and individual coaching. Exploring a broad pricing schedule that would provide ongoing revenue for the Alliance, a reasonable income for the coach, and high-quality depth coaching for our members. Introductory presentations would begin in January.

Donna May: Another Deep Meet & Greet scheduled on 1/12/2016, 5-7p PST. Community story-telling—writing and story, its power to create empathy and compassion; how to bring her one-to-one community story-telling work to the Alliance; wants to be available to others as a witness and support—a midwife of other creations.

Karey Pohn: Outside the Alliance, focused on how the archetypal nature of change equals play, and how this might be packaged to inform and serve corporate America; would like to offer brain-friendly teachings on the Alliance—how the understanding of brain science can support/affect one’s depth orientation (?).

Mark Sipowicz: Loves the Deep Meet & Greets with Donna; interested in public issues and writing for his vision quests. May like to facilitate a book group. Also, sitting with what he wants to do around men’s groups.

Alliance-backed Public Statements (Bonnie, in Craig’s absence)

Discussion about Alliance leadership posting formal statements about the organization’s stance on issues of consequence, such as racial inequality, or climate control.

Concern that written statements would not produce useful discussion.

A more generative way to present our views and invite discussion of depth psychological approaches might be to convene town-hall-like meetings that provide an opportunity for our board and membership to engage on these issues.

I would like to propose that our Board issue a public statement against the racism and intolerance we see so much of in the media and politics of today. Your critical feedback is appreciated. If we don't achieve a quorum on this I can issue it myself as President of the Alliance, but I'd prefer to have the Board behind me on such an important issue.

A few things about this:

Although I do NOT want the Alliance to support any particular political agenda, I do believe we should have a public voice in matters that transcend politics, and racism is one of them. A public statement can show our relevance, vision, and passion. My hope is to set a precedent for this. So if you see another cultural issue that needs some illumination, feel free to send Bonnie and me a paragraph or two on what it is, how it reflects our values, how it demonstrates our relevance, and how it speaks to our sense of community and to opening up possibilities for inner and outer wholeness and liberation.

Please let me know what you think by Dec. 14th. Thank you!

Public Statement by the Administrative Board of the Depth Psychology Alliance to call for action against racism and xenophobia in American politics, media, and law enforcement procedures

Although implied in the very name of “United States,” the ideal of appreciating diverse lifestyles and points of view comes under escalating attack, here and abroad, by the political and digital amplification of intolerant voices. Media intended for public expression and edification have been hijacked by well-funded political machines invested in scapegoating to further their dominance.

Targets of opportunity include immigrants from Syria and other lands destabilized by decades of Western interference, Muslim citizens who no longer feel safe at home or in mosques where they peacefully gather for prayer, and African Americans assassinated in the streets by the very agents of law enforcement who should be keeping them safe. All three of these groups are routinely branded “terrorists,” directly or through innuendo, by US news agencies, talk show hosts, and radio personalities who spread fear and hatred. Donald Trump’s demand that Muslims be specially tagged, with their private information stored in a security database, is merely a more flamboyant example of the tide of vilification.

The Depth Psychology Alliance was founded to promote psychological practices and ideas that seek to include what has been exiled from the margins of consciousness and culture. Because we take these values seriously, and because our work shows that inner and outer diversity are both inseparable and required for psychological and social well-being, our Administrative Board unequivocally rejects the above and all similar examples of racism and xenophobia.

We call upon everyone to avoid supporting any political candidate, media organization, or financial institution that conducts or abets what in a healthy country would be unthinkable acts of white supremacy, domestic terror, and hate speech. Such harmful behavior divides not only the wholeness of our country, but our interior wholeness as well and is therefore contradictory to the principles of personal and cultural fairness, balance, and unity.

Furthermore, we issue this call to encourage everyone to denounce such behavior in person and online and to engage in sustained self-reflection to heal the psychological legacy of racism that still lives inside us. Only by taking decisive action imbued with critical self-inquiry and animated by appreciation for difference can we hope to reach the truly just and inclusive forms of community we deserve and most truly desire.

Upcoming Alliance events for December/January -- (Internal events/committee meetings are in bold)https://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/upcoming-alliance-events-for-december-january-internal-events-com2015-11-19T01:16:01.000Z2015-11-19T01:16:01.000ZDepth Alliancehttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DepthAlliance

Upcoming Alliance events to be aware of (and to attend and promote where ever possible):

Forms and procedures being seen as corporatization; feeling out of the loop, overwhelmed, confused by procedures and tech; too many changes too quickly; hard to know what's going on in each committee; "how do I fit in?"; "am I doing enough?"; bombarded by documents, info; feeling disconnected from other board members; need to discern what to do and show up for, balance commitments.

Congratulations:

We're getting so much done and launching so many experiments!; feeling a part of something transformative taking place; loving the connections we're making; it's fun to watch the Alliance evolve; we're experiencing natural growth pains; growing our depth family.

Addressing the concerns:

- Operations / Exec Committee to get board buy-in for procedural and other changes so they aren't experienced as so top-down.

- New ideas for events etc.: run them by Craig first for initial vetting and hints for proceeding (the Visioning part of the 3 V's that also include Validating and Vivifying).

- Operations / Exec Council to share meeting minutes with Board.

- Start Board meetings by briefly describing what each of us is doing to/with/for the Alliance so we all know what's going on in overview if not in detail.

- IMPORTANT: if you can't attend a Board meeting, post an update of what you've been doing at the Board page.

Open for more ideas and suggestions....

November 2015 Board Meeting Agenda and Packethttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/group/alliance-admin-board/forum/topics/november-2015-board-meeting-agenda-and-packet2015-11-13T00:24:19.000Z2015-11-13T00:24:19.000ZDorene Mahoneyhttps://depthpsychologyalliance.com/members/DoreneMahoney

For this month’s board meeting, we’re expanding on the committee discussions to allow for a brief overview by the chairs on committee happenings and, then, check in with each committee member on the things you’re working on in that committee.

You’ll notice that for the time being, Mark’s Membership Experience Committee is being contained within the Experience Committee, and Eva’s Outreach is being handled as part of Operations. This may be temporary, to allow us to focus all our collective creative energy in three main areas.

Report outs are intended to be informal and just to loop us all in on everything that’s happening with the board.

At a minimum, committee chairs are asked to announce the date and time of the next committee meeting. If an individual board member isn’t currently working on specific committee tasks, we’d still love to hear what’s happening in your life in general!
