Travis Langley PhD authored the book Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight and edits Sterling Publishing’s series of books on psychology and popular culture. The series launches with The Walking Dead Psychology: Psych of the Living Dead andStar Wars Psychology: Dark Side of the Mind in 2015, followed by volumes on Game of Thrones and Star Trek in 2016. Dr. Langley received his bachelor’s degree from Hendrix College and his M.S. and Ph.D. in psychology from Tulane University. A psychology professor at Henderson State University, he teaches on crime, social behavior, mental illness, and media, including courses titled “Batman” and “Psych of the Living Dead.”
Thousands follow him as @Superherologist on Twitter, where he ranks among the ten most followed psychologists. He was an invited speaker for this year’s Southwestern Psychological Association conference. An organizer of the Comics Arts Conference, he regularly speaks as a panelist discussing both heroism and antisocial behavior at conventions like San Diego Comic-Con International, New York Comic Con, and Wizard World conventions, joined by people such as Bat-Films executive producer Michael Uslan, legendary comic book writer Dennis O’Neil, and a diverse mix of actors that includes Adam West, Lee Meriwether, and Sir Patrick Stewart. He speak on college campuses throughout the world.
Dr. Langley has also been a child abuse investigator, courtroom expert, and undefeated champion on the Wheel of Fortune game show. He appears as a featured interviewee in the documentaries Legends of the Knight, Comic Book Literary, Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics, and others in production.
