Reality is complex and I don't think that these two links reveal some deeper truth. They are just ideas different from some other ideas.

Both the bear and Lion were near and dear to Artemis. The Bear defended its cubs and the Lion protected the established order. I don't know what more to add to your subsequent observations other than the croats rode with the nazis in WW 11 and the nazis served the fatherland. Maybe that is why the croats speak of the dom... and maybe there is something deeper there than that. It lies beyond the scope of the subject heading. No?

  • Just sitting back and enjoying two men discussing "The Other." Back to your original question: with two pages worth of comments, are you certain that feminism isn't *your* shadow? :)

A belated OUCH! It took me a moment to realize what hit me...It is easier to observe another's shadow then one's own might  work.

When/if you box with shadows prepare to take a lot of hits. :)

    • http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/relationships/up-high-or-down-l... - "Had we had grown up in a world of Minnie Mouse-voiced women delivering state addresses and heading shareholder meetings, soprano might be the sound of authority."

I'm all for the rule (more than many women) of "Minnie Mouse" (as long as the message is in a range I can hear), for the right of women to be women. As Klemens has noted, it's not really a problem with women, but if they don't deliver something new (long-term thinking and manners) that they could.

Out comes the white towel as the master has spoken. It is better to live to learn another day than  to...

      • I don't know, I guess I would appreciate some support from the "other" side in terms of long-term thinking (or just seeing things differently).

The differences between genders are subtle, but in my opinion real. For example, when there was a war in Croatia and my family lived there, my father wanted to take the gun and fight for Serbs (there was a lot of confusion and propaganda at that time, just as a lack of good guys) and my mother and I were supposed to move to Serbia. My mother didn't let it.

Also, let's take for example the Clintons. As Bill was in the focus as someone who had cheated his wife, he started bombing Serbia. I have my opinion about wars and that specific war (Humanitarian or not?), but the moment it happened was positive for their relationship. Any other permutation (Hillary cheating his husband with her boss or employee, Bill cheating his wife with his boss, Hillary first becoming a politician, Hillary starting a war and "earning" a monument in Priština...) would have had a different outcome on their relationship.

I (think that I) don't have so much difficulties with strong and successful women, but rather with what people see as strength and success. An ambitious wife (again, in terms how we usually understand the word "ambitious") would need a husband at least a little bit ambitious (see the previous bracket), they would need an extra effort for that relationship to work. The reasons for that (in my opinion) go beyond patriarchy vs. feminism, to the very material we are made of. On the other hand, I think that more women as leaders would mean more resilience (a community rather than an individual becoming a "fighter") and less violence (in the long run).

It's difficult to change the direction of a big system overnight, hence there are some women in politics with aggressive rhetoric and fake deep voice. An aggressive male politician would never use words "bomb" or "obliterate". He doesn't need that extra effort in order to succeed (in the way success is defined by men). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znQe9nUKzvQ - Malcolm X: The House Negro and the Field Negro

I don't know what to say here other to apologize to Serbia for the atrocity the West inflicted upon them. The Serbs lost more men fighting for the freedom the west enjoys today than the combined losses of the british canadian australian armed forces. They tied up divisions of the nazi forces that saved countless other lives on both the western and eastern fronts. I was appalled by the barbaric attack in the name of freedom on the very people who did so much to preserve our freedom at tremendous cost to themselves. Alek i think you are straying off topic here but i appreciate where you are coming from.
