We recapped how this initiative might work:

The Board puts out a call to interested participants who want to offer a teleseminar, webinar, video presentation, and/or written group. We vet those who respond and choose our offerings.

 

We discussed:

  • How do we get people to participate? What’s the “payoff” at the end (as James said). We could offer certificates of completion, and eventually CEUs eventually when we can get it set up.
  • How do we “vet” people?—who does it and what is the criteria? – The committee can develop an application form that requests peoples experience, description of the offering, and why they are wanting to offer it.
  • If we charge for the events, should all the money go back to the Alliance, allowing presenters to gain in non-financial ways: i.e. from the exposure, opportunity to sell books, or ability to upsell to other events they offer outside the Alliance.
  • Should we create a new tier of membership in the Alliance where paying members pay to have a kind of “all you can eat” access to all standard educational programs and archives? In this case, we would need to make sure the program is set so there’s something worthwhile going on weekly or monthly at least. (BB: Possibly we could still charge beyond this for exceptional one-off events like a well-known keynote speaker, an online symposium, or for programs offered by partners like Jung Platform).
  • BB; That brings up something new for conferences we didn’t discuss: Maybe we could host an online conference with several speakers over 2-3 days as a kind of practice run for the in-person conference next year.

 

Next steps: Develop a survey for members that says “IF” we decide to do this, would you be interested in presenting? If so, in what format and what topic. Then we can reach out to these individuals who express and interest and invite them to submit a proposal for committee review.

 

Bonnie will start working on the survey this week and put it out to committee members for editing/finessing. In the meantime, we can discuss logistics in our next meeting in a few weeks.
