DP as Vocation Intro

Hello,

My name is Pamela Alexander. I have completed the MA in DP and am currently writing up my findings for my dissertation on the sacred marriage of Sophia and Jesus and the birth of divine love. The dissertation took an unexpected turn recently when I began to write up the final chapters. I was inundated with phrases from the Bible, which I eventually realized I needed to pay attention to. It has turned into a revision of the Biblical myth. I am putting the feminine back into the story.

I am finishing up my latest book, which is a compilation of fairy tales with the same theme as the dissertation. It seems as though this is the focus of my work at the moment. That said, I also do dreamwork. I have created my own way of working with dreams that is intuitive, embodied, shamanic, and Jungian. It is a transformational experience that appears to be evolving right now into a more spiritual approach, which I have yet to understand.

I am a writer (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and intuitive), artist, workshop presenter, speaker, and dreamworker with certifications in yoga and creative movement. I am seeking a publisher for my manuscript and other writings.

I considered Pacifica for a long time before I matriculated knowing there was not a set vocational path with this degree. I finally decided I would trust that by the time it was done I would know what to do. I am still working to share what I love to do with others and create a soulful life of abundance. I am intuitively guided with some frequency to people who need assistance in many different ways. My feeling is that the nature of life is such that all needs are met and I am trying to understand that principle as it applies to my own life and live it.

I look forward to engaging with you all regarding the possibilities of creating work that honors soul and makes the world a better place.

  • Thanks for your introduction, Pamela. You seem to be at the heart of most things I consider classical depth psychology: religion, archetypes, dreamwork and fairytales. I look forward to seeing how these have shaped your path and how they might, by extension, shape each of ours as we begin to collaborate together...

  • I can tell, Pamela, that yours is a nuanced and many-layered calling. Not an easy or straight shot. I am honored to be a witness in some small way to your process during this group.

    • Thank you Dorene so much. I was touched by your response and appreciate your comment regarding witnessing. I have been exploring that idea as it relates to my dissertation and especially the Biblical aspect. I look forward to growing together in what I perceive is a new frontier of vocation as an ongoing dance with Psyche as expressed through each of us. Best, Pamela.
