How about a different metaphor?

Greetings from the Costa Rican Rain Forest!

I really like Jesse's referent to the Buddhist dependent co-arising view. Would like to know more....

Metaphors are dripping like the warm showers here:

soul and money = sharing

Findhorn = business

A good metaphor could combine the linear with the cyclical?

How about a different metaphor, like a Depth DNA, that connects soul and money into a "sharing helix?" A stitching together for a new meta-relationship with the global community?

How deep do your metaphors go?

  • you still have to address the mythic metaphor through which you yourself are valuing or debasing money... dna flows with same flowing quality as water and waves... and aren't there all kinds of hooks there as well... (not sure about what I have heard in that regard)... but I imagine as a metaphorical image dna hides all manner of shadow figures as well.. in the end psyche has us...

    • "In the end, psyche has us"—so true, which is why depth psychology always goes back to creating a dialogue with the emergent Self—another representation perhaps of the Buddhist dependent co-arising.

      Questions: If we are truly committed to listening to Self and engaging in the dialogue, will the money appear in the natural course of things as those who are meant to respond are engaged one by one?

      And do we have to believe it (i.e., have faith) in order for it to happen?

      And can we trust enough that if we are authentically doing our "work in the world," the entire conditioned paradigm of a society based on the exchange of money can transform itself into another kind of compensation?
