Today the group submitted a question to the IChing for the group. We pulled phrases from each of three individual questions group members had posited for themselves.
After some discussion and wordsmithing, here is the question we asked for the group:
How can we move into a realm where money flows with ease through the channel of our individual vocations so that we can connect to the needs of the world and tap into ongoing joy and fulfillment?

Bonnie, thank you so much for the idea of throwing the iChing. I am not big on patience; however, my passion for community writing and storytelling has helped me weather the storms and delays of seeing these programs bloom into the light. Interestingly enough, the day after our group, I was told that the juvenile hall program is a definite "go" - my budget was approved and I will start facilitating the 18 mos program Oct 1st -- whoo hoo! I also was told that they are approving my adult community writing and storytelling project, too. The entire process has taken MONTHS, but it is going to happen!

Very inspiring, and also humbling as the process did take time, but that is what the reading indicated, too.

Thank you for the casting of the coins and facilitating this great group question, Bonnie. I loved your opening and closing of feeling our feet on the smooth rocks in a stream and the waters flowing by. On that note of ease and flow with work, this image just came into my inbox, and the Otter is also in my thesis collage. Now I know why! Always loved seeing the otters playing and working with one another, and they know how to eat!

Earth and Sun, Fire and Water themes we talked about.. Feminine and Masculine modes, and Soul work tending:
The day before our meeting on vocation, ala Jesse's great depth method, my hand opened this book and landed at this part of the story from The Little Prince. I felt it as a message of the feminine (soul work vocation) that opened herself in her own timeframe, while the beholding and tending of the (inner and outer) masculine really appreciated her and brought her to full bloom and strength in the atmosphere above ground:
"...But one day, from a seed blown from no one knew where, a new flower had come up; and the little prince had watched very closely over this small sprout which was not like any other small sprouts on his planet. It might, you see, have been a new kind of baobab.
The shrub soon stopped growing, and began to get ready to produce a flower. The little prince, who was present at the first appearance of a huge bud, felt at once that some sort of miraculous apparition must emerge from it. But the flower was not satisfied to complete the preparations for her beauty in the shelter of her green chamber. She chose her colors with the greatest care. She dressed herself slowly. She adjusted her petals one by one. She did not wish to go out into the world all rumpled, like the field poppies. It was only in the full radiance of her beauty that she wished to appear. Oh, yes! She was a coquettish creature! And her mysterious adornment lasted for days and days.
Then one morning, exactly at sunrise, she suddenly showed herself.
And, after working with all this painstaking precision, she yawned and said:
"Ah! I am scarcely awake. I beg that you will excuse me. My petals are still all disarranged . . ."
But the little prince could not restrain his admiration:
"Oh! How beautiful you are!"
"Am I not?" the flower responded, sweetly. "And I was born at the same moment as the sun . . ."
The little prince could guess easily enough that she was not any too modest--but how moving--and exciting--she was!
"I think it is time for breakfast," she added an instant later. "If you would have the kindness to think of my needs--"
And the little prince, completely abashed, went to look for a sprinkling-can of fresh water. So, he tended the flower.

Thank you, James. Perhaps we are creating our own Fox Village here at the Alliance: a pack of trickster energy!
Very synchronistic as James had just presented the image of a seed being completely wrecked and destroyed during the growth process minutes before we asked our question....
So much territory was covered by everyone's contributions! Among many, one motif that really captured my attention was the pre-teen and teen populations that Donna and James both spoke about working with. Along with the idea of Thresholds of Initiation, and the idea of Resurrection being overlooked, James brought up the fact that our culture has no conscious initiation rites for adolescents (and more), so we have to go it on our own. I look forward to hearing more about James' work in this field of initiation and Donna's story-telling facilitation with Youth, and Pam's upcoming book on Sophia.

"...Our Thursday Depth Group will meet Thursday August 27th at 7PM at the usual location in Sebastopol.

Hi Julie. I am revisiting your post here. I am incubating the ideas and imagery of inititiation. Just like you, I am curious and open to anything re this that James or any of the group wish to share. Since I will be able to be with the kids in JH for quite some time, I am gathering dreams, stories, insights on how to include this theme in my class presentations and writing prompts.
