Thought it would be nice to track some of the appearances of certain images that have shown up for us in the group on one thread, along with any synchronicities. I saw this story this morning and wanted to share as whales (and dolphins and lions) are very much on my mind these days...as are owls, now, Donna! :)

Butterfly in the Cosmos and Mermaids in the Ocean....Images that live in our popular media, even as posted on the Wall Street Journal! Mermaids have come back to the forefront of culture though some cities have declared mermaid free zones...Mermaids in Search of the Life Aquatic
It's calm and a there is a sense of nobility and an education about the history and environment says Spanish Mermaid teacher. Mermaid anna frazer swims with sharks in the Phillipines.

Hubble Spots Shimmering Butterfly in Space
Astronomers have captured a new image of a cosmic butterfly, also known as the Twin Jet Nebula, that probably formed only 1,200 years ago. Photo: ESA/Hubble/NASA 8/27/2015 9:23PM

Such metaphors here, above and below!
Bonnie - Thank you for pointing us to the wonderful Cup of Joe video with Dr Evans Lansing Smith on his transformative journey with Joseph Campbell. He talks about the masculine/feminine aspect of the birth of Aphrodite Anadyomene (She who rises from the Sea and is center stage on my thesis collage), in an interesting way as the birth of the Divine Feminine. He also talks about the action of Isis, and the rising of new life - dynamic energy after death and resurrection.
Also, DR SMith brings in many other numinous images and dreams, in his personal discussion of the Hero's Journey - which we could each apply to our own journey into holding space for soul and psyche in our effort to birth our depth vocation in to the world. What a lucky guy to have met Campbell and travel with him!
It is a 35 minute video talk, which might be a nice experience to have before our next Discovering Meeting Tuesday,.

THe WhaleShark, the gentle giant of the sea, which I mentioned in the connected experience of swimming with one, was recently crucified in a very similar manner to Cecil the Lion. I only saw this the day after my posting, as i searched for photos of the magnificent creature, and found this highly disturbing news. The timing (synchronicity) of the remembrance of my felt sense in being with this live creature, and the next day news release is significant, it seems.

Today I sent an inquiry to the Jane Goodall association to see if she might also speak out about this, as she did about Cecil the Lion. This was on her Site. It is similar to what came to psyche when I saw his head on TV, before I knew the story... at least the world can now see what is happening, and the Solar Lion symbol will be re-covered in wholeness. And funny that I know get to expereince that 'story' of gruesome sacrifice, with the Whale Shark. I did not get away with out expereincing and facing this kind of brutallity, at least in the animal world. It called me to action. Thank you for standing in witness with me.
While many have found it hard to articulate what we should do now that Cecil is dead and his killer is still free, Goodall sees the light: "Only one good thing comes out of this – thousands of people have read the story and have also been shocked. Their eyes opened to the dark side of human nature."
Here is her full statement, released on Wednesday by The Jane Goodall Institute.
I was shocked and outraged to hear the story of Cecil, Zimbabwe's much loved lion. Not only is it incomprehensible to me that anyone would want to kill an endangered animal (fewer than 20,000 wild lions in Africa today) but to lure Cecil from the safety of a national park and then to shoot him with a crossbow...? I have no words to express my repugnance. He was not even killed outright, but suffered for hours before finally being shot with a bullet. And his magnificent head severed from his wounded body. And this behaviour is described as a "sport." Only one good thing comes out of this – thousands of people have read the story and have also been shocked. Their eyes opened to the dark side of human nature. Surely they will now be more prepared to fight for the protection of wild animals and the wild places where they live. Therein lies the hope.

Donna sent this image "Whale Energy" which looks to me like the 'realm' above and below, of where we want to share our depth work in the world! Thank you Donna.
What associations do others have for this intriguing picture?
Julie, thanks for posting here. It looks even better when one can see the "bigger picture." Hmmm
Donna, your very intimate connection with that immense animal being, the whale, felt astounding as I read it. You beheld one another, and connected, and it was due to her movement toward you and your boat!
Later tonight I remembered the time (many years ago) spent in the deep ocean of of Hawaii,on a dolphin swim boat when a whale shark swam up, twice the size of our 15 foot boat. Everyone jumped in the water on that side of the boat except me, No Way, the newby snorkeler. What is a whale shark anyway, I wondered?
I finally got in on the other side, hoping i could keep my distance. The captain yelled at me to get my mask and snorkel on as it was swimming up under the boat right towards me. I did panic a bit, but put it on fast to be prepared for who knows what. I looked in the water, just in time to see it coming up almost under me... then A HUGE BEING was right next to me, just hanging there, thankfully with its mouth closed. The eye was tiny, the body smooth, and bumpy grey with white speckles... But the moment i put my head under water, I was extremely calm.
There was no fear. My whole body and mind were just calm, and I was amazed. The boat captain jumped in with video camera and filmed what we all later called "The Toothless Nanny". I felt again tonight the field of calm that we all felt with "Her" as remembered your whale story. This whale shark communicated with us in another sense, perhaps its whole body being was sending out electromagnetic peace? We were sad to leave the area after she spent close to an hour with us. The boat captain, there for over thirty years, said it was very unusual to see and swim with a whale shark.
Thank you for sharing this, Bonnie. One of the most powerful experiences I ever had was when I had been fishing with my dad. He had invited me to come fishing with him so I could earn money for my next semester at USC. We were over 100 miles outside L.A. harbor, just leaving the Cortez Bank, where we had been fishing for the last two weeks. I was sitting on the stern of the boat, just taking in the beauty of the lanscape around me: nothing for miles, except for calm waters, a clear blue sky, an occassional seagull.
As I sat there, just being one with the gentle swell of the ocean, I happened to glance to my left. Just feet from the boat a huge gray whale began to breach the water, rising higher and higher, until I could see her eye. She looked directly at me and I experienced something I cannot describe in words. It was one of the most powerful moments of my life. I truly felt connected to her. She continued to move parallel with the boat for a little bit longer and then, as quickly as she had risen, she was gone again.
I sat there in awe, knowing I had experienced something sacred.
As my thinking/reasoning side came back to me, I had the realization that if She had wanted to, She could have flipped our 64' fishing vessel with ease. There is a consciousness and power in nature that many humans do not want to acknowledge.
Thank you for starting this post of living images, Bonnie. I was just wondering when this might happen and here you are!
The whale coming up to the humans on the boat for assistance to remove human made garbage from it's body, and the thank- you fin slap it gave in return for the freedom it must have felt, was very enheartening to see! There is a spark of joy generated here, similar to the joy I felt when walking along the coast at Drake's Bay with the ocean dolphin pod who were swimming so close to shore. There was a similar human-made reason for the close encounter : those particular dolphins who are usually in warmer waters much father south, were up here in N Cal because our local ocean temperature has risen so much. Maybe we can see this as silver lining, human - animal interactions will be happening more frequently due to climate change and habitat pollution?
