For James Hillman....

This is one of my favorite poems--and it somehow seems appropriate for the vivacious energy and wild spirit that is James Hillman:

"I Live My Life In Widening Circles"

I live my life in widening circles
that reach out across the world.
I may not complete this last one
but I give myself to it.

I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I've been circling for thousands of years
and I still don't know: am I a falcon,
a storm, or a great song?

--- Rainer Maria Rilke
James: May your soul enjoy every aspect of its amazing existence, now and always...

  • Maila--So true. Thank you for this beautiful perspective...
  • Thank you for this sharing, Bonnie. It is good to connect in our "widening circles" in this time of loss of one of our most inspirational and original minds...

....and good to see your face here...

    Sending Love and Gratitude

    • You too, Eva. It does seem in times of loss that we are less willing or able to take things--and people--for granted. It's good to see you here as we all honor the transition of James Hillman--and of so many things in Life. I am truly grateful for this community and all of us who are willing to pay attention to the deeper realms.
  •  I am deeply moved by James Hillman's passing. I have been listening to his lectures all week, pouring through his work for my thesis, and feeling fortunate that I got the chance to meet him and see him speak while enrolled in Pacifica.

"I want theories that blow the mind, as art can, not settle them."

He was an uncompromising maverick of psychology.
