Thought this was an excellent thoughtful article by Daniel Foor PhD, founder of the Earth Medicine Alliance, and wanted to share: Who Are the #Ancestors and Why Do They Matter?
Daniel also offers regular events around the San Francisco Bay Area on Ancestors and Medicine, including the upcoming Soul Guidance and Family Healing: Ancestors Weekend Intensive
September 29 & 30, as well as Ancestor Work for Psychotherapists and Healers on December 1.
Since I completed my own training with African Elder Malidoma Some, I have been highly affected by the power of ancestral guidance and energy in my own life. Has anyone else worked intensely in this arena and would like to share?

Thanks for posting this article Bonnie. I have been doing ancestral healing work, a bit through Family Constellations work, and also through shamanic journeying. I have found most powerful the process of giving back to the ancestors the multi-generationally transmitted patterns and agreement/beliefs taken on by a child within the family system -- so that the energy of the pattern can be transformed in the world behind the world and a new pattern set in motion (supported by the ancestors in the lives of those living in this world). This acknowledges and honors our need for the ancestors' help and seem to help free the family system to heal and move through stuck issues. Focusing my own lineage, which extends downward to children whose ancestry includes slaves, and upward through my family of origin to slaveholders, I have been called to work this process related to many issues in our lives that I now see as threaded into the grievous wound of slavery to the collective, cultural, familial and personal psyche.
Good morning Bonnie - I also enjoyed reading this article. During my PhD process, I personally, intensely addressed Healing of my Family Tree work - as a forth generation and from a spiritual and bloodline perspective that demanded (yes strong word) my particular branch - sibling line - attention. Some of the most powerful, profound healing work I have engaged in to date and I do believe, from an ancestral spiritual perspective, I was presented with an opportunity, an invitation - a call to address the traumatogenic ('shadowland material') inherited and recpatitualting across the generations. The gift is witnessing and benefit of my own healing plus the potential for the on-going healing potential upon current and future generations is amazing to behold.
For the past 20 years, my personal healing journey included a healing of myself within the context of my family tree healing journey. I completed a minor in theology (specifically Ideology - the isms of theorums- ancient to modern), plus a depth ananlysis into my ancestral bloodline - the past 6 generations,my roots from the past 3 centuries of family life that originates in Eastern Europe to Canadian Immigration pre-WW1.
And here I am - so blessed and fortuante to have all of that plus all of this - the Depth Psychology Alliance - to engage in conversation that matters!!!!
Thank you Bonnie for founding this group and posting this article. Regards Linda
