Denise Maratos has been in the field of psychology since experiencing her own mystical states over 20 years ago. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Pacifica Graduate Institute in the field of Clinical Psychology with a Depth Psychology emphasis and is working with high-risk youth at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She is a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education and UCSC, has taught and lived around the world, while helping international students. After being diagnosed with an array of psychiatric “disorders”, she survived the entanglement of the psychiatric system, and embarked upon her journey of healing and self-discovery. In 2010, she founded the Wildflowers’ Movement, which promotes the value of self-awareness, radical wellness, mindful support, and neurodiversity. Her interests also include healing through ecotherapy, expressive arts therapies, and mindfulness modalities. Her research and training experiences include: writing interventions with UCLA and the VA for training clients in clinics in addiction prevention, mindfulness and self-directed recovery. She has helped people struggling with challenging and extreme experiences, and is currently conducting research on the individuation process and the natural reactions of a sane soul to a mad world.
