Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

I've worked as an outdoor adventure leader for over 25 years. I have a outdoor adventure leadership school, which I'm currently developing and growing (www.outdooradventureleader.com). In 2009, I returned to "higher education" and have earned two Bachelor degrees - anthropology & psychology - with a certificate in Native American Studies. In May of 2016, I finished a MA in Transformative Leadership from California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), and now I'm working on a PhD in Transformative Studies at CIIS with an inquiry topic of: How do we nurture ecological consciousness through liberatory pedagogies and experiential curriculums? Along with being a full-time graduate student, I teach Outdoor Adventure Leadership at Southern Oregon University (SOU). In 2016, I was hired by SOU to teach Adventure Therapy, and it is the therapeutic qualities of nature that drew me to the field of outdoor adventure leadership. A part of my PhD studies will be conducting Participatory Action Research within the realm of ecological consciousness and how education can nurture this vital aspect of humanity's future. I'm most passionate about helping people to see themselves as a part of nature and the more-than-human world; I want to help people heal the illusion of being separate from nature. Modern Western consciousness is plagued with a logic of dualism, which manifests into hierarchical forms of false dichotomy (e.g., nature vs. nurture, humans v.s nature, etc), and helping people to see the world through a diversity-spectrum lens will help us all heal our fragmented psyches that are at the root of our contemporary human problems. I want to help people see the inextricable interconnectedness of all things.
