Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

My main interest within the theoretical orientation of Depth/Jungian psychology is alchemy as depth psychology invites the hidden meanings and unconscious processes to emerge, allowing us to meet symbols, imagery and metaphor as vital to our understanding and experience of psyche. I am drawn to your Jungian community. I want to interact with others who engage in Jungian thought.

  • Hi Erik. Greetings, and welcome to the online depth psychology community. It's great to have you here--and it looks like a note of CONGRATULATIONS is in order since you defended your dissertation at Pacifica yesterday! It sounds like a fascinating piece of research and I hope you'll share some excerpts or thoughts about it here in the Forum or Blog section.

Meanwhile, as you may know, we currently have nearly 1500 members here from all over the world. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from many walks of life--artists, writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

Also you may want to consider participating in the online book club: In August we're featuring Deep Blues: Human Soundscapes for the Archetypal Journey about Blue... with Dr. Mark Winborn. Since the Book Club is all done via writing in an open forum, you can participate at your own level and schedule.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link---- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site----and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community. ~Bonnie Bright, Founder
