I wanted to share a few ideas and proposed agenda for our May 6th "Depth Psychology As a Vocation” DiscoverRing, and welcome any feedback or questions you have in the meantime.
I’m planning on using a Collaborative Inquiry-based framework, at least to start us off, which you may be familiar with. I’ll paste a short summary from NYU below so you can get a feel for it. This first meeting will also be an opportunity for us to introduce ourselves get a feel for each other and our individual situations and expectations.
I see the agenda unfolding as follows (time allocated is loose):
• Opening: a thought, poem, quote, story, music, etc. that will establish our meeting space. Does someone want to volunteer to do this for us this first meeting? (2-3 minutes)
• A brief summary and discussion about the process of Collaborative Inquiry. (Some of you are very familiar with this, more so than me, I know!) (10 mins)
• A general articulation of the “burning” question for the group that we are coming together to explore. I’m thinking it’s something like: “How can we create a vocation that is fulfilling and (financially) rewarding using depth psychology?”—but we can decide once we get to that point what other options may exist and how much time we want to spend honing it, versus taking next steps. (5-7 minutes)
• Individual intros and sharing: 5-10 minutes each.
• Identify some sort of action/inquiry/experimentation we can each agree to undertake before meeting again. Is it to try a visioning technique, or dip into social media, or commit to deliver a webinar, set up a blog, start writing a book, or partner with another individual or organization?—the possibilities are endless (10-15 minutes)
• Set a date/time to meet again and report back on each of our process and experiences (5 minutes)
• Closing (another short ritual crossing of the threshold back into regular life)
I’m looking forward to making this as participatory, engaging, open-ended, and action/activist-oriented as possible. Let me know if you have questions on any of this.
Meanwhile, below is the call-in info (Not sure if the last message was showing up in Pacific Time: Here it is just in case). Again, apologies to those on EDT—if you—or anyone—need to arrive late or leave early, please feel free to do so. Just let me know so we can be aware of it.) We’ll plan for up to 90 minutes for this first gathering since we need time to introduce ourselves and then we'll see in future meetings if we can reduce that (or want to..)
Thanks again everyone. I’m excited to see this coming together.
