Join us for a FREE introductory class exploring Jung and the Divine Masculine. This course is an ideal resource for anyone interested in learning more about a Jungian approach to masculine psychology, masculine initiation, and the integration of masculine and feminine principles. We'll examine the crisis of uninitiated masculinity in contemporary culture, explore the fourfold structure of mature masculine energy (King, Warrior, Magician, Lover), and look at how understanding the divine masculine contributes to both individual wholeness and cultural healing.

In addition to exploring the four archetypal quadrants of the masculine, we'll examine the Pan archetype and its relationship to masculine instinct and initiation. We'll look at how the absence of meaningful initiation rituals has created what Robert Moore calls 'a world of uninitiated boys running things,' and explore both traditional and contemporary paths toward mature masculinity.

The full course includes one free class plus eight modules with resources and further learning opportunities available through our online learning platform, www.depthpsychologyacademy.com. Students who successfully complete all of the assignments in the online learning platform will earn a certificate of completion.

Attendees may also simply audit the course, without needing to complete assignments for credit.

“The hero is the ideal masculine type: leaving the mother, the source of life, behind him, he is driven by an unconscious desire to find her again, to return to her womb. Every obstacle that rises in his path and hampers his ascent wears the shadowy features of the Terrible Mother...and in every conquest he wins back again the smiling, loving and life-giving mother.”

~Carl Jung (CW 5, par 611).

The crisis of contemporary culture cannot be separated from the crisis of masculinity. For many people today, questions about masculine identity, purpose, and healthy expression are among the most pressing psychological and cultural issues we face. Much of the violence, alienation, and moral bankruptcy we encounter in the modern world can be traced to the absence of meaningful masculine initiation and the loss of what might be called mature masculine values. While the divine feminine has been suppressed and denigrated by patriarchal structures, the divine masculine has been equally distorted and reduced to dominance, control, and power divorced from wisdom, compassion, and service.

Beginning with the phenomenon of the uninitiated masculine and the process of individuation, we will examine Jung's understanding of the animus (the masculine aspect of the feminine psyche) and explore the fourfold structure of mature masculinity articulated by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette. We will also examine the Pan archetype and its relationship to masculine instinct, nature, and the initiatory process.
