Shamanism, the oldest form of therapy, becomes the father and prototype from which the other forms of healing are derived. Jung perceived this and made it the basis of his theory of healing." —C. J. Groesbeck

Robin Robertson

Shamanic Healing
Robin Robertson, Ph.D.
Mircea Eliade's description of shamans as "specialists of the sacred", emphasizes their relationship to the unconscious. Once considered "medicine men" (and women), they share many commonalities with psychotherapists and even psychics.  In this presentation we will examine a variety of shamans from different cultures, focusing on similarities in beliefs, methods of treatment, and healing practices

Patricia Damery

The Serpent Mind in Human Evolution
Patricia Damery, M.A.

In Genesis, humankind was evicted from Paradise for succumbing to the serpent's temptation to eat from the Tree of Knowledge.  This fall from an unconscious union with God led to man becoming increasingly more separated from the Divine in nature, including developing an intellect which often stifles sensitivities to the subtle energies of a more intuitive and magical realm.  In this presentation, we will explore some of the aspects of the serpent mind, and how we might integrate this older, non-rational way of knowing both in analytic work and in our development towards consciousness.
