Perhaps the greatest shaper of a life exists as a mercurial presence, an intimation of what is to come and what swirls around and within us at every moment. While we try our best to understand these hushed whispers, our efforts are often stunted because we rely on our conscious perception to understand archetypally profound messages.
From the beginning of time, we have sought ways to understand the contours of a life, by seeking the sage advice of dreamers and madmen, all of whom know something about those gossamer presences which create a life.
Perhaps the most compelling illustration we have in regards to understanding the meaning of this "other world' are the presence of angels in life and in literature. In both Greek and Hebrew, the meaning of angel is "messenger." In our sacred texts, we often find an angel accompanying the sojourner as they traverse new lands. Unfamiliar with the terrain and the ways of this other country, they look to the angel as the one to articulate the nature and meaning of this other- this archetypal world.
Speaking of the archetypal nature of angels, the late Dr. Kaufmann, a brilliant Jungian analyst and faculty member with The Assisi Institute, explained that " Angels express the sum of all the qualities, assumptions and meanings of what has come before. ..Angels are like laws that govern a territory, we don't always know what the laws are but they exist, and we must learn what they are if we are to prosper in that territory."
As we continue our movement through life, we too need the articulation of angels an understanding of the fields which hold us captive and those holding a promise of transcendence. In this complimentary teleseminar, we will discuss the importance of understanding the regions of archetypal activity that we find ourselves in, and, like the sage knowledge and wisdom of angels, the need to translate their meaning into our life. It is this work of translation of archetypal fields and images that stands as the foundation for the work of Archetypal Pattern Analysis. The scope and nature of this work will be discussed in this complimentary presentation.
