Charles Fisher, M.D.
Saturday Nov 17, 1–4pm, $25
3 CEUs for BBS licenseholders ($5)

This presentation will describe dream-interpreting practices in contemporary Africa, based on Dr. Fisher's interviews with traditional healers, Christian pastors who use indigenous methods of dream interpretation, and political leaders who use dream interpretation in their work.  He will present examples of dream-interpreting practices and discuss similarities and differences. The cultures include the Volta region of Ghana, the Masai of northern Tanzania, the Ha and Nyamwezi of west Tanzania, Sangomas in the South African townships of Langa and Soweto, Griqua and Koranna leaders in South Africa, and Basotho healers in Lesotho.

Charles Fisher, MD, is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, Personal and Supervising Analyst at PINC, Assoc. Clinical Prof. of Psychiatry at the UCSF, and former Psychiatry Residency Training Director at California Pacific Medical Center.
