Don't delay. Bolster your resume and heed the call of the soul: Training Session begins February 1, 2011.

Ecopsychology is a budding discipline that recognizes the complex interconnection, interaction, and interdependence among living and non-living nature. This of course includes humans, as we too are nature. It is a cross-pollination among the sciences and humanities that provides a critical and necessary understanding that the well being, the flourishing of the planet and that of the human and non human world must include sustainable and mutually enhancing relationships.

Biologists, with their subtle and complex knowledge of the natural world, have provided us with a rich field of imagery. Psychologists have also contributed to the repertoire of imagery with their ever richer descriptions of the human psyche, and of the mind. Depth psychologists, in particular, have deepened our understanding of archetypes and shadow, or unknown elements of the psyche or soul. Developing an ecopsychological lens allows us to see ourselves, others, and the world in more relational and interdependent ways.

Ecopsychology Training Course Description:
This 9 month training course will examine fundamental concepts in ecology, depth and archetypal psychology and explore how these relationships can provide valuable and practical information for living a more sustainable life. It emphasizes relationships between personal, community, organizational, economic, social, ecological and ethical issues.

We'll discuss ideas for how and why change is required for ecosystem health, and discuss how a sustainable psychological system encourages the development of sustainable natural systems, organizational systems, political and educational systems.

This is an hybrid online training program. Students meet weekly online and in person for four days in nature at the Sedgwick Reserve in Los Olivos, California.
