Virtually every culture and spiritual tradition speaks to the all too human tendency to forget and the profound need to remember.

In psychology, Freud taught us that even events and experiences subjected to repression, denial and suppression are never that far away from consciousness and come back to us as the "return of the Repressed". In biology, we now understand that repetition is a telling of nature's memory. From the mystery of creation of a human life, to the beauty of each and every flower and plant, we see how each develops in relationship to what has come before. Jung's and St Augustine's entire domain of archetypal reality speaks of a pre-existing universe of meaning and experiences of which, while we remain virtually unaware, still guides so much of our life and destiny.

This theme is artfully addressed in Elie Wiesel's novel, The Forgotten, where a father living with the ravages of advancing Alzheimer's asks his son to become the holder of his memories. Brilliantly written, this work offers a hauntingly profound representation of the importance of remembering and the tragedy of our memories being lost in some gossamer mist of confusion, and unknowing.

It is our cultural and spiritual traditions which relentlessly speak of the need to remember.

In this presentation, Dr Conforti will discuss the reality and consequences of living in a time of the Forgotten, and ways to know and remember the contours of this personal and timeless archetypal domain, where past, present and future collapse into a moment.

After this presentation on the patterns of memory and forgetting, Dr Conforti will discuss ways of discerning the presence of Archetypal Patterns in our relationship to this theme, and will provide an introduction and overview of The Assisi Institute's Training Program leading to Certification as an Archetypal Pattern Analyst, and career opportunities associated with this training.

We hope that you will join us for this unique event.
