Siddhis and Spiritualism The Upsurge of the Supernormal in 19th Century America with Michael Murphy and Frank Poletti
Frank's presentation will introduce a fascinating moment in American history when supernormal experiences were happening with great regularity. Throughout the 19th century, there was an upsurge of supernormal phenomena - telepathy, clairvoyance and psychokinesis-experienced by anti-establishment religious groups such as the Mesmerists and Shakers. These events became so commonplace that they even surfaced in the White House during the Civil War and were reported on by mainstream newspapers. He will also describe how these supernormal phenomena influenced the founding of modern psychology. Frank's presentation will be interspersed with conversation with Michael Murphy, Q&A and periods of meditation.
Join us for this lecture series during which Michael Murphy and others will discuss the basic premises and underlying story of Integral Transformative Practice.
