The dream as message from the depths -Working with our dreams to integrate the unconscious –
Venue: Les Gavatxes retreat centre in the stillness of the Spanish Pyrenees, close to the medieval village of Beget.
"The dream shows the inner truth and reality of the patient as it really is: not as I conjecture it to be, and not as he would like it to be, but as it is". C G Jung, The Practical Use of Dream Analysis” (1934).
Our dreams reveal contents of the unconscious that are seeking to emerge into consciousness to bring us to greater wholeness. The psychology of C G Jung emphasises the spiritual significance of dream material for our development towards becoming the person we were born to be, the process he named ‘Individuation’. While the content of our dreams can at times seem insignificant or confusing, once we respect them as symbolic images, the dream material becomes a rich natural source of wisdom.
The course will include working with our personal dream material and developing the interpretive skills of compensation, association, image formation, symbol synthesis and active imagination. We will touch on major themes of Jungian psychology including:
- The psyche as conscious and unconscious
- Ego, persona, shadow
- Personal and collective unconscious
- Theory of complexes and archetypes.
This course is aimed at counsellors and therapists who would like to develop their skills in working with dreams and learn more about Jungian psychology and its practical application.
The course will be limited to a maximum number of 10 participants. Les Gavatxes is situated in the Alta Garrotxa region of the lower Spanish Pyrenees and is a designated ‘Natural Reserve’. The retreat centre is set within 56 hectares of land that includes forest, meadows and two rivers (one with a natural bathing pool). It invites stillness, rest, imagination and creativity.
