What Shapes a LifeFrom Field to Form, From Archetype to Living RealityA Master Class with Michael ConfortiBook signing 4:30-5:30 pmLike graceful dancers, there are times in our lives when we effortlessly glide across the floor, while at other times, find that are feet are leaden, and discover that we are living in a world devoid of inspiration and creativity. With each step we take, if we listen carefully, we can hear a quite voice far off in the distance, a refrain that has touched the hearts and souls of humanity since the beginning of time. As mercurial as a gossamer dream, we sense that we have glimpsed something of the eternal- something transcendent-and perhaps even an intimation of our destiny. Our lives are profoundly influenced by these archetypal rhythms, and it is essential that we learn to live in accord with these forces which bring us closer to and, at times, farther away from the life we are meant to live.In 1944 Edwin Schrodinger, biologist and physicist wrote one of the most important works of his time entitled: What is Life? We will follow a similar thread in these talks, as we look at the archetypal underpinnings of life. Beginning with a discussion on Jung’s work on the Objective Psyche, we will move to a an investigation of dreams, the clinical situation, cinematic images, and discoveries emerging from the new sciences of emergence and complexity theory, to see the extent to which individual and collective experiences are shaped by these archetypal influences.Michael Conforti, Ph.D., is a Jungian Analyst and the founder and director of the Assisi Institute. Dr. Conforti's work has resulted not only in a training institute based on his discoveries, but also the development of a new discipline, Archetypal Pattern Analysis. He has been a faculty member at the C.G. Jung Institute of Boston, the C.G Jung Foundation of New York, and for many years served as a Senior Associate faculty member in the Doctoral and Master's Programs in Clinical Psychology at Antioch New England. A pioneer in the field of matter-psyche studies, Dr. Conforti is actively investigating the workings of archetypal fields and the relationship between Jungian psychology and the New Sciences. He has presented his work to a wide range of national and international audiences, including the C.G. Jung Institute of Zurich and Jungian organizations in Venezuela, Denmark, Italy and Canada. He is the author of Threshold Experiences: The Archetype of Beginnings and Field, Form and Fate: Patterns in Mind, Nature and Psyche. Dr. Conforti maintains a private practice in Vermont, where he also serves as a state-appointed advisor to the Board of Psychoanalysts. He provides his insights as a sought-after consultant to businesses, government institutions, and the film industry. He has served as script consultant on a number of films, including the recently released Pride and Glory, and has also consulted on the application of field theory to the understanding and resolution of international border disputes. He was selected by The Club of Budapest and the University of Potsdam to be part of a 20 member international team of physicists, biologists, and dynamical systems theorists to examine the role and influence of informational fields.
