New Mission and Vision Statements for the Alliance!
T
he Alliance has NEW Vision and Mission statements. Our board has worked hard over the past few months to inquire into what we feel the Alliance wants of us as a board and a community. We have articulated these on the premise that the Alliance (and depth psychlogies in general) should be able to grow and establish a greater presence in the world. Thus, we have subsequently crafted what we feel are powerful statements that will serve us as we move forward to our first in-person Depth Alliance conference in 2014, as well as other new initiatives like the developing Community Ed program (education FOR the community BY the community), online gatherings and symposiums.
Please share your thoughts on these statements in the Forum here. We'd love to know how you think they serve your own perception of the Alliance and where we're headed as a community.
Our VISION is to make Depth Psychology universally accessible and to foster meaningful insight into the human psyche and the collective soul. Integral to this vision is the spirit of service. We aspire to serve as a source of warmth, replenishment, and interconnectivity in the ongoing process of tending to soul.
Our MISSION is to serve all individuals and organizations who are passionate about the power of Depth Psychology. Our intention is to cultivate a dynamic global gathering place for exposure to as well as the exploration and exchange of 1) depth psychologies ideas, principles and practices, 2) new and existing resources, while at the same time 3) encouraging opportunities to connect and dialogue with like minded others.

Hi - upon reading the first sentence of the Mission statement, I understand the choice of the word "passion", however, not the next choice of the word "power" and wonder, am curious, have a preference for the word "field." Simply, but deeply sharing.

Great observation, Linda. I believe both words apply. I wonder if it's a matter of perspective. For me, depth psychology has so much potential for transformation and the word "power" seems to offer some autonomy to the "field" that wants to be expressed.. A field holds that potentiality too, of course, but power is perhaps a bit more explicit. I love the study of language and linguistics and would be interested to continue this conversation... Anyone else have a preference or perspective as well?
I am a layperson very active in this Alliance. I'm definitely more interested in the power (consciousness discussing about consciousness) potential of this type of social networking. It's fine when people share theory and experiences from their work, but that's not something that makes the Alliance unique.
