When C.G.Jung visited Nazi Germany in 1933, he talked with "people of unquestionable idealism" who thought a "great revolution" was taking place there, even though there were some "unavoidable abuses". (from Volume 10 of Jung's Collected Works)
In February this year, the huge demonstrations of Euromaidan movement in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, brought about a régime change which some see as an idealistic revolution, others as a fascist coup.
It is undeniable that an elected leader was deposed, that rightwing paramilitaries played a part in the change, that people who fought on the fascist side in WWII have been glorified, that memorials to anti-fascist soldiers have been destroyed...
What sort of European identity is being expressed in this movement? Is it a return of collective shadow?

Correcting a typo from my last message... What Jung actually wrote was:
"Will man be able to give up toying with the idea of another war?"
Replying to Aleksandar Malecic.
Something Jung wrote back in 1946:
"The real danger signal is not the fiery sign that hung over Germany, but the unleashing of atomic energy, which has given the human race the power to annihilate itself completely. The situation is about the same as if a small boy of six had been given a bag of dynamite for a birthday present. We are not one hundred per cent convinced by his assurances that no calamity will happen. Will man be able to give up toying with the idea of another way?"
(from "Epilogue to 'Essays on Contemporary Events' " in Volume 10 of Jung's Collected Works)
Could be correct for the age of history? Nothing lasts forever. Everything has changed allot. The end of history, the beginning of a new story. Repeating patterns-switch-chaos-new repeating pattern or fight all repeating patterns that oppress the soul...
History was written by journalists. There is no way of knowing... really knowing... that the so called axis of evil was really the way the journalists say it was. Heretics are jailed by democracy to sustain the culturally accepted narrative. Hitler was intended to be a puppet, he gave the finger to everyone who intended to control him. He is held accountable forever. Mussolini was held accountable. Hideki Tojo was held accountable. If fascism means leaders that get held accountable...
No democratic leader is ever held accountable. They do what they want and there are never consequences. The newspapers distract and no one knows what is going on. Their genocides never happened, only Hitlers genocide, and the soviets were the most humane loving community, heaven on earth? For how long can a man play these stupid games? Voting for smiling, blatantly dishonest really, really dumb as fuck people. I mean when they try and talk themselves out of the latest banal scandal so poorly that they must think all voting men are down syndrome.
The Fascists were the last traditionalists. How harshly would I judge them for this? They are as evil as communism and democracy. Who denies man the space frontier, that is his birthright, that is being denied him, here now? Democracy denies children their natural instinct to grow up and be astronauts. Perhaps china is already on mars. My perceptions are severely limited and all information is usually lies. All this exercise is relevant to my point, gloating about some past supposed victory over fascism by soviets and free men is a painfully old joke.
http://www.valuewalk.com/2014/11/world-war-3-russia-win/ - There is something disturbingly indifferent and cold-blooded behind that title, as if somebody was discussing how to properly boil spaghetti.
At least they were passionate about what they were doing. Those we are watching lately in the news treat their atrocities like a bureaucratic procedure.
Well, I share your enthusiasm for space exploration. And it can't be denied that the V2 rocket was a technical breakthrough, and was the precursor to the space technologies which emerged in the 1950s and sixties.
But if Hitler and his allies had come out on top of their enemies, I doubt that would have led to rapid exploration of space. I think it more likely that the technologies like the V2 would have been used right here in Earth to kill more and more people. The second world war would likely have been followed by a third world war, between Greater Germany and Greater Japan.
I just wanted to reply something, but didn't know what.
Maybe you are right, but I prefer not to weep in fetal position because of that "fact". The strongest and most aggressive apes get all the females and resources (speaking of low population and short command chains - it's more complicated than that). I am more or less skeptical about everything and all the time, but there seems to be a pattern within this specific group of people interacting here, how we perceive (our and other people's) freedom and dignity and how it relates to real-life events. Also, it significantly deviates from the "mainstream". To be honest, there were moments in my youth when I tended to see "our history" through pink glasses or when I didn't understand (I still don't totally understand it, but more than I used to) the relations between those at the top and those at the bottom. I am a different person than before.
Well, yes. But, is Putin Stalin? The reason why I am particularly irritated by the latest situation is that it's happening again in the 21st century. We are so much interconnected and, since my childhood was marked by a leap from Yugoslavia (a transnational country) to a war and more wars, I'm having some flashbacks. I was sick and tired of my Croat "friends" singing about atrocities against Serbs (Croatian fascism and its renewal from the 1990s was perhaps the most brutal). Still, the line from talking to doing was never crossed. It's difficult (unless you are on the very top and unless "everyone is doing it") to totally hate someone who isn't anonymous to you, who has some shape and form and is overall a nice guy (We should communicate, communicate, and, if we fail, communicate again). Again, Serbs did assassinate Croatian political leaders in the 1920s (and before that two our dukes, one king, and Franz Ferdinand), just as we assassinated much later our prime minister Djindjic and former president Stambolic. The point of this topic as I see it is that CIA, Victoria Nuland, neo-Nazism in Ukraine, and anti-nuclear shield combined with missiles turned against Russia (it's been for years now) were used as red flags against Russia (and a powerful distraction, a reality show even, for those who would occupy the Wall Street or organize a tea party). The war in Ukraine is developing according to plan by NATO, it didn't "just happen". If Yanukovich had been removed by elections, if the people from Maidan hadn't been greeting each other with "Death to the enemies", if Ukraine hadn't been destroyed by corruption from both sides of the political spectrum, ..., we would be talking here about a different situation.
There is something sick in hierarchically organized society.
