Response to Dreaming Blackbird

I let this writing be with me over the week and found a rush of imagery/affect while sitting by the churning Pacific with my two dogs. A flock of Sanderlings moved past and I was overwhelmed by the movement of the hundreds of legs scampering .... here's a dab of the rawness (unedited) that came in the moment:

Splash high the shore

scurry of legs pale-chested

probing with the foam

probing their way home

Little known to casual eyes

more aptly to the coast

more simply to the sea

more profoundly to the flow

Father time-Mother time

stretches from the tide

gripping the Pacific spray

as it once did from the hills

Blushy sky surf scoter

washy pale reflected passengers

silty gray chaotic relaxation

rising haze of yesterday's tomorrow

Breathy companionship elevated

exhaltation purring in mixed smells

an imperceptible beast sings in the deep

primordial pelagic drone

notes carry what once was

subtle hints of what will be
