Calling those who live east of the Mississippi and south of the Mason-Dixon. I love California, Chicago, New York and New England, but need to connect with others in the South who are interested in exploring Jungian/Archetypal theories and practice.

  • Ed - I must have overlooked or missed the email about the May gathering in Atlanta.  Would you give me that information again?  I would love to come if the dates work out.  Thanks!
  • Did everyone get my email about a conference in Atlanta in May as a possible place for us to meet? If not and you would like to know, please email me. I will also be looking at the offerings at the Asheville group's site. There may be smething there more to our group's interest.
  • Mitchell,

Just downloaded the brochure and will read tonight. Interesting dialogue on their website as they debate what the primary focus of such an organization "should" be, either informational or transformational. I italicized the "or" because I would hope a both/and approach could be found. It is also interesting because such a question may add to the discussion as to what Jung in the South desires to be.

  • Curious as to how many people in this group are familiar with the AAP - American Academy of Psychotherapists? I attended the local "spring salon" meeting held at the Link Counseling Center last night and enjoyed it. This is a gathering of students and therapists (many quite seasoned) who are experientially oriented. Many of them attended West Georgia's Transpersonal Psychology program, and most are familiar with the idea of Depth Psychology. Seems like a supportive community. They are nationwide, but largely concentrated in the SouthEast. There is an upcoming workshop in North Georgia in April. Their website: http://www.aapweb.com/index.html

  • Lilan - have you ever attended the Networker Confererence? Tons of CEU's and lots of interesting people - David Whyte is there again this year - and there are so  many workshops to choose from.

  • Lilan,

I attended the Haden Institute event several years ago. The place is quite nice. The program then was a bit like dream work - lite. But sometimes its good to hear others speak the language and participate in something that affirms one's own understandings (and you get the hours). Now that was quite a few years ago and there may be a higher/deeper level of work going on now.

  • Hi Lucia, thank you, just did. They have some great programs, but all of them are evening, or maybe one day. I need the big numbers!! I am thinking of this dream conference in North Carolina. It has a lot of Jung information, but isn't Jungian.

Also, I want to say that I respect your consideration of the Ph.D. program. I think you are very smart to look at what you want to do with your degree when you get out, and go for a school that will most likely get you there. Many people choose the school for the educational experience it offers, and don't think about what happens when they graduate.

  • Hi, I'm looking for CEU's by end of June for NBCC. I would love to do something Jungian. I was going to Hillman and that was cancelled. A 3 day conference would be great. Anyone know of anything?

    Thanks.

Jung and the Arts

This will be the focus of the first Jung in the South Conference and except for a few folks I know who would like to present, this is as far as it has gotten. I would like to make this planning a group endeavor. Is anyone connected with a college or university or art institute (housing and board made easier) that might be interested in hosting the event? I imagine during the summer if an academic setting.  If you do plan to check with organizations in your area, please let me know so I don't…

This discussion invites those who attended the 2012 Journey Conference to reflect on their experiences and learnings. I hope it will add some information that will help others make wise decisions related to attending events where the Journey presenters will be appearing.

Suggestions on Readings for a Directed Study Proposal.

Since my graduate program doesn't offer any Jungian courses regularly, I'm getting ready to draft a proposal for an independent study course that focuses specifically on Jung.  There's a couple of faculty members that have an interest in Jung that may agree to be the overseer and mentor for me on this.  I figured if I came up with a proposed course of study that it would only help my chances of getting one to agree, but I'm having a very hard time narrowing down what the proposed readings for…
