The term "family" is used by everyone from therapists, to politicians, to religious leaders to designate something, to draw upon emotional responses, to harken back to some vague family values agenda. But what is "family" today? As I was growing up, "family" was mom, dad, and kids. Anything outside that was not a real family and somehow "less than." I propose a collaborative research project that intends to define what "family" means today. It would involve 1) constructing a list of loose questions related to the concept "family," 2) interviewing people at random (this can be discussed), then 3) collating the information and 4) sharing the results with whomever might be interested.
If you would like to be part of this semi-scientific endeavor, please respond by answering within this subgroup.
I'm also just plain curious as to this process of shared research through the use of technology.
Thanks for considering.
