Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

Having studied Jungian psychology (and others) in college while I earned a B.F.A. degree. Psychology has always been a subject of personal study and fascination for me (since I was quite young). I am now considering pursuing graduate work in this field, both as a 'healer' (some form of therapist or counselor), and as an artist (and "cultivater of creativity" or art therapist of sorts). Participating in this community would enable the healthy exchange of ideas relating to what I like to call "holistic psychology", which, I think is very related to the core of depth psychology. I hope to gain more insight about my career goals which entail the desire to feed the collective soul of humanity (Lofty, huh?)

Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?

no, not as yet

  • Hi Amy. Happy new year, and a somewhat belated welcome to the online depth community. I’m glad you’re here. Hopefully you have had a chance to explore the site and have found the Alliance to be made up of a dynamic group of likeminded people who can learn from each other in a multitude of ways--something many of us are searching for to be sure.

On that note, I hope you're finding opportunities to engage as you browse the vast content and interact with others. You may want to consider joining the new online book club if you haven’t already—it’s just begun (with a new author each month!)—and you can participate at whatever level you wish.

Meanwhile, it looks like you're managing just fine in case you need detailed help on getting started and navigating the site, please use the following link-- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site --and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community~Bonnie Bright, Founder

  • Welcome Amy Jo, (correct?)

Glad you found and decided to join the Alliance. You have a unique perspective combining your personal experience with your sibling and your mode of expression being artistic. I am very interested in hearing about how you see these experiences and depth psychology informing one another. My experience as therapist, dramatist, and now depth psychologist has led me down some interesting rabbit holes into a different light.

There are several artists among the membership so I believe you will find much of interest within the many blogs, forums, and groups. I look forward to your posts.
