No. A physiotherapist interested in psychology of illness. I also write poetry and short stories.


Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

Deep interest in Jungian Psychology, and Zen Buddhism of which I've been a long time practitioner. Member of C.G. Jung Society in Ottawa, Ontario, until it folded, then joined the Montreal branch. Also I attend the Psychoanalytic Film Society of Ottawa's monthly film evenings organized by Ottawa Psychiatrists and Psychologists.

    Hi Betty. Welcome to the online depth community! I'm so happy to see that you write poetry and short stories. Depth Psychology is such a rich field from which to draw on for content, and poetry and short stories, on the other hand, typically manifest the same rich symbolism as dreams and myth. Sometimes when I'm trying to get at an issue, I like to turn to creative writing to see what emerges. It's very helpful and enlightening. I hope you will be willing to share some of your work with us here in the community. Look forward to see you around.

    Welcome Betty,

    We share a commonality - a name that sometimes doesn't fit in the boxes. :)

    The video is wonderful. I am also interested in the psychology of illness and am in dialogue with a psaychiatrist in town about a more archetypal, individuating way of perceiving what is entitled "mental illness." The quotes probably give away my position on the DSM as well. :) Glad you are with us.
