  • Welcome Dan,

I am especially interested in your area of expertise in that I have done some research within psychiatric hospitals and am in an interesting conversation with a high ranking psychiatrist in our state's psychiatric community. Our point of contact is that he is a person who holds religious beliefs thereby opening the conversation to a wider perspective than drugs and cognitive-behavioral approaches.

Hope we can start a conversation along these lines.

  • Hi Dan. Welcome to the Alliance. I really appreciate your approach to your work. The concept of dissolving the boundaries between the doctor and patient, therapist and client is so crucial. Wherever there is hierarchy, there is also pathology.

I'm sure you're familiar with the work of Maureen Roberts. Maybe you've already seen this article on mental illness as a reflection of cultural 'soul loss' by her, but I thought it was very compelling:

Soul in Crisis: Why Cultural Healing Must Replace the Mental Illness Fiction by Maureen Roberts, PhD: http://www.psychiatrywithsoul.com/pdf/Soul_in_Crisis.pdf

Anyway, enjoy the site, and I look forward to connecting with you further.
