Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

I began to study Jungian psychology since my graduate school days, finding clinical psychology lacking the depth that I sought. I went on to work with a Jungian Analyst, and eventually with Marion Woodman in Canada. It was important for me to move out of my head and into my dreams and my body. Jung and Woodman have given me the tools to understand myself apart from my defenses, through dreams, active imagination and bodysoul work. I have published a journal for 3 years, Psyche's Journey Opening to the Mystery, which I would like to convert into an ezine. I have many interests and skills, expertise, and experiences to share.

Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?

Board member of the Marion Woodman Foundation CT Assoc for Jungian Psychology

What is your WEB SITE (IF you would like to promote it)?

  • Hi Dorica. Greetings and welcome to the online depth psychology community! I'm so glad you've joined us. How fortunate that you've studied with Marion Woodman. She's a remarkable woman. I'm also looking forward to knowing more about your potential e-zine. I hope you'll share more in the community.

As you may know, we currently have nearly 1800 members from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from various walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

Also you may want to consider joining the discussion in the online book club if you haven't already: In December we're featuring "Madness at the Gates of the City: The Myth Of American Innocence,” a mythological and cultural look at our current belief systems with Barry Spector. Since the Book Club is all done via writing in an open forum, you can participate at your own level and schedule--and you can join the discussion anytime, even if you don't have the book. Upcoming in January is "The War of the Gods in Addiction" with David Schoen, as well as a special study group on the Red Book with Robert Bosnak starting January 19.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link----http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site----and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community. ~Bonnie Bright, Founder
