Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?
I was introduced to depth psychology in 1981. I have studied since that time. I am a former member of the Minneapolis Jung Society, where I studied depth psychology, with Sandra Holtkamp, Don Sandner (President of San Francisco Jung Society, Edward Whitmont, James Hillman, Nor Hall, and others. Since 1975, I have been involved in the study of holistic, or mind/body/spirit-oriented therapies that support healing. As the great granddaughter of two empathic hands-on healers, I have also received initiation for second-degree Reiki. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services (1986) at St. Mary’s University, Winona, Minnesota. Studying with Michael Maley, PhD, I became certified in Bio Energetic Analysis, as developed by Alexander Lowen, MD, who studied under Wilhelm Reich, MD. These pioneers developed the foundation for what we now recognize as somatic psychotherapy. I am a longtime Buddhist practitioner, having been certified by Lama Tsultrim Allione in Kapala I & II. Kapala is a method of contemplative practice to resolve obstacles to healing. The training is designed for professionals, who can apply these practices to their healing work, and for individuals who wish to work deeply with their own obstacles. Additionally, I completed six years of training in Gestalt therapy, and ego psychologies, and received supervision by Carl Whitaker and David Keith as I provided family systems counseling I would enjoy conversation, dialogue, learning from a like minded community.
