I am a Deep Imagery trainer with the International Institute for Visualization Research and currently president of Imagery International. I am thus interested in the use of imagery and in the imaginal in terms of healing modalities and as a way of knowing in the world. My Ph.D is in Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, CA, USA.
My own research focuses on how the mythic and imaginal function in cultural settings. I am particularly interested in the intersection between myth, ritual, nature and the deep imagination. I also completed an apprenticeship with Jicarilla Apache medicine man, Felipe Ortega from whom I learnt to lead sweat lodges and about Jicarilla healing traditions. Therefore, I am also interested in indigenous traditions and in how the imaginal is understood within these traditions.
My Interests are broad. I was born in Ireland and I live in New Mexico, USA. I have presented on mythological topics such as The Irish Influence on Vodou (AAR Conference), Celtic marriage (Berea College, KY) and Jicarilla Apache healing traditions. My article titled Nasty Women: Can the Goddess and the Hero find a way forward was published in the Spring 2017 issue of Immanence! the journal of applied mythology, legend and folktale.
