Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

I've had a strong "felt-sense" way of experiencing the world since childhood and strongly respond to images. Introverted and shy, I've also had a fairly intense inner life. Discovered Jungian/Depth/Archetypal Psychology through James Hillman, particularly "Re-Visioning Psychology", while in my early 20s and found that it really spoke my language, as it were. I was introduced to several writers/analysts, as well as new book titles, from Bonnie Bright's podcast. Hope to discover more and connect with others.

Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?

No

  • Greetings Paul and welcome to the Depth Psychology Alliance. With so many options in cyberland, I am pleased you chose to join our wonderful online community! I too experience the world a little differently than the common Westerner and it is good to meet a fellow explorer. And, I like your photo, as to me, it feels like I am on the other side of the mirror seeing you through it.

We currently have over 3800 members from all over the world! As you explore our community, I hope you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who I believe are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. The Depth Psychology Alliance is proud that our members come from many walks of life--artists, clinicians, writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc.--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience to be shared in our community.

We recommend that to get started, you personalize your profile photo by going to your "My page" and rolling your cursor over the default C.G. Jung image. This gives you the option to switch it to a personal picture. As well, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to another member's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

Here are a few quick links to front page items that may be of interest to you. The Spring 2015 Depth Insights E-zine has a call out for papers, art, and poetry with a April 1, 2015 deadline for submissions. After reading the submission guidelines, if you have any questions, you can contact me. The Multimedia Library contains talks, videos and articles that may be of interest to you.  And, the Depth Psychology Alliance Events page contains calls for papers, upcoming conferences, and workshops.

You can also weigh in on the weekly depth discussions by clicking the image and quote at the top of the home page. And here's a link to help you navigate the site for your convenience.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you around the community.

Doctoral Candidate in Depth Psychology: Community Psychology, Liberation Psychology, and Ecopsychology
