"By the way, did you know that unemployment rates in Haiti hover around 70%, that over 50,000 children were in orphanages BEFORE the earthquake (many with at least one living parent who just couldn't afford to care for them), and that many mothers…"

"Annie: Thanks so much for introducing the topic of Haiti into the forum. It's so relevant and yet I'm rather shocked by how, after the incessant coverage the first few weeks of the catastrophic earthquake, the topic has virtually disappeared from…"

  • What a great idea to involve the journalists who are close to the topic. I love it!
As for the process, just click the "Add Discussion" button below the current Forum and type (or paste) what you want. It's on that screen you'll see the "blank page/file" icon which you can click to upload a file from your computer. If you get stuck, just message me and I can walk you through it....
  • Wow! Annie, wow! What an incredible experience it must have been for you to be in Haiti. Your paper is a really amazing "take" on that experience and I'm so grateful to be able to look at the aftermath through your lens. My paper is very different, in fact, looking at the earthquake itself through a more traditional mythic lens.

I would LOVE if you would be willing to make a post in the forum--whatever you think is appropriate, sharing that you had the chance to go and introducing the paper, or maybe referencing what the status of the aftermath is in Haiti today (it has SO disappeared from the media, its unbelievable!) and then click on the white/blank sheet icon at top of where you make your forum post and upload your paper there. I think this should be front and center. I will, however, also post it in the "articles" page.

And, I will respond to your Forum post with a link to my paper. It would be great to bring awareness (again) to others and maybe (hopefully) stimulate some thought--if not conversation. What do you think?
  • Hi Annie,
Thank you SO much for sharing your paper. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I will do it today and get it posted. I'm REALLY intrigued, because I also wrote my paper for Glen on Haiti!! What a coincidence! Again, I so appreciate your willingness to make it available to others. I think its such a critical topic.
  • Hi Annie: Welcome to the site. So glad to have be a part of it.
