Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?

I am a classical pianist/teacher/composer.I purchased a home in 2008-and it shattered every belief system I had forermly held. The property and dwelling bordered a toxic waste site in the EPA's National Priorities List. The well water was poison...i became very ill.The home was built on wetlands...and home to over 25 endangered species.I fought against the corporate and governmental agencies to preserve my family's well being and that of the species I loved.I was ignored, ridiculed, shamed and the home eventually flooded 5 times.I lost my health, career and home-but realized the severity of the damage caused by the systems in place that fail our environment.I am studying Environmental psychology-and wish to live true.I am lost-it is difficult to connect with others who are aware of what has happened to the natural world.I hope your organization can guide me in my search for "Home".

Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?

No. am hoping to join an ecocommunity in order to find peace for my 8 year old son and myself.

  • Hi Heidi. I'd like to add my welcome to Ed's. I'm glad you've found us. Depth psychology has always been a powerful vehicle for me in my own search for "Home". Your story is a tragic example of the alchemical adage "as above, so below". What happened to you is being played out on a massive scale and yet so many of the victims remain anonymous. It's easy for us collectively to turn a blind eye and move on. I'm currently writing an article about Ringwood, NJ, where Ford dumped toxic waste from their plant in the backyard of the native Ramapough for four years from 1967-71. The people there are still paying with their health and their lives. Its devastating to think what is happening and I am so sorry for your own direct experience.
I hope you'll find many like-minded individuals in this community who desire understanding, solidarity, and soul-- and I second Ed's suggestion that you post your story in the Ecopsych group here as well. It deserves to be witnessed.  I'll send you some tips on navigating the site in a separate email. Enjoy the site! Bonnie Bright, Founder
  • heidi,

I forgot to mention that there is a Jung in the South group that may be of interest. Several of us are hoping to meet at the Journey Conference in October in North carolina.

  • Welcome heidi,

Your story is heart wrenching. Please look to the Eco-psychology group and share your story. There are many in that group and within the general Alliance who will feel the tragedy presented on so many levels. How are you today?
