This shot was taken on the porch of the Civil War era farmhouse I lived in off and on over the Summer of 2009, in the middle of a year-long field research project working and studying with shamans of the Maya, Haida, Blackfeet, Lakota, Mohawk, Aztec-Toltec, and many others on a 1,700 acre ceremonial refuge being built near Ashland. I'm between two of my beautiful ceremonial sisters who were living in a tent in the front yard, near the creek and the field where the Red Earth Descendants built a community garden to raise the Three Sisters. It was a year to remember.
