They say that individuation is a counter-clockwise spiral, ever spiraling deeper into one's authenticity. When I began this collage, I was immediately annoyed at the images that I was drawn to--not my childhood . . . AGAIN! But it gradually became evident that the more important part of the scene is the top. The bottom left of the piece is all about my Mom and the bottom right is all about my Dad. Then, the angry young woman with the dead eyes. However, in the upper left is a completely blank young woman gazing with a kingfisher at a spiral--I was finally able to access the vitality that was fully my own (the young woman who's likely just won a hockey game).
