Calling those who live east of the Mississippi and south of the Mason-Dixon. I love California, Chicago, New York and New England, but need to connect with others in the South who are interested in exploring Jungian/Archetypal theories and practice.

  • The 95+ degrees have taken their toll on my attention span. I have not forgotten the Jungian/Archetypal Southern Conference: Dream Dance idea. I've been doing research on the connection of dance, drama, and delirium. At this point I personally am closer to delirium but that may be too dramatic so I'll dance away for awhile and get back to you when I have more to report. Anyone come across some interesting speakers (besides yourselves, of course)?
  • Thanks for inviting me Ed. I have been contemplating myself the idea of getting together with people of a similar mindset close to my area, hard to find such minds around these parts. Anyone else around Tampa, Florida by chance?
  • Best to give you the website.
    http://interplay.org/
  • I am not familiar with Interplay. I would be interested in what you could tell me about the group.
  • Just came back from a long weekend with the group Interplay. Have you heard of it? Thought it might make a good break-out session. If you haven't heard of it, I'll send more specific information.
  • I'll keep this southern conference in mind while I am at the Jungian conference at Cornell University. The more models we consider the richer our potential outcome, don't you think? Of course, we can also end up over-stimulated and out of focus! So, balance is also needed.
  • You are more experienced than I in presenting (but I've been a teacher for over 20 years). The Journey into Wholeness in NC: I'm having trouble getting a correct website. Seems several folks like the title. If you have a web address for them, I would appreciate it. I like the idea of a college/university hosting an assembly - less "baggage" than if it is at a church. Retreat centers are also nice but costly, unless we find a retreat center that finds our idea appealing.
Question: There are yogic approaches that involove dance. Would these also be in line with the way you see this unfolding? I'm heading to NC for a dance-related retreat at the end of the month, so I might network with some folks there too. Imagining the conference happening, what would you like to present? I've also gotten some training in dream work at Pacifica and through the Haden Institute in NC. They might be interested in presenting as well.
I know these thoughts are scattered, I'm normally not like this except when I'm excited about an idea. You are getting the stream-of-consciousness version of me.
  • Dream Dance . . . . I LIKE IT!!!

Just back from the dream conference in Asheville and I am in love! It was an incredible experience to present to such an open, receptive group. Plus, there were so many good sessions every time period, it was challenging to choose! I hope I'm presenting next June in the Netherlands . . . .
  • You spark a title for a set of workshops: Dream Dance
I'll think on this one awhile but what is your initial response?

Jung and the Arts

This will be the focus of the first Jung in the South Conference and except for a few folks I know who would like to present, this is as far as it has gotten. I would like to make this planning a group endeavor. Is anyone connected with a college or university or art institute (housing and board made easier) that might be interested in hosting the event? I imagine during the summer if an academic setting.  If you do plan to check with organizations in your area, please let me know so I don't…

Suggestions on Readings for a Directed Study Proposal.

Since my graduate program doesn't offer any Jungian courses regularly, I'm getting ready to draft a proposal for an independent study course that focuses specifically on Jung.  There's a couple of faculty members that have an interest in Jung that may agree to be the overseer and mentor for me on this.  I figured if I came up with a proposed course of study that it would only help my chances of getting one to agree, but I'm having a very hard time narrowing down what the proposed readings for…
