“There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual. Such are the moments of our greatest happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom. It was in this hope that the arts were invented.”

~ Robert Henri, The Art Spirit

When one has been moved by Spirit, one never forgets it. We never forget experiences of touching Something greater than ourselves. In this special series, four gifted women in the arts will share how they access non-ordinary wisdom and open alchemical spaces for others. The series will be facilitated and led by Kim Hermanson, author of Deep Knowing.

Each session will center around one defining question:

How does transformative experience happen? What allows us to connect with a spiritual realm that is alive, dynamic, and beyond the capacity of ordinary cognitive processes?

This seminar will be a unique opportunity for participants to experience a range of aesthetic forms, touch what’s alive in you and open up spaces of understanding that you didn’t know existed.

Week 1: Connecting to Ancient KnowingGuest artist: Cassandra Light.

Week 2: Body and Soul as ConsciousnessGuest artist: Cynthia Winton-Henry.

Week 3: Dancing to Authentic TruthGuest artist: Jacqueline Low.

Week 4: Urban AlchemyGuest artist: Lily Yeh.

The format of this series is a conversation about transformative process that will include ample experiential time. How does one artist break open people’s hearts through simple basket weaving? How does another use movement, voice and story to unlock a divine consciousness that is not normally accessible? What is it about the arts that allow us to enter transcendent realms? How do the arts transform us… and transform our communities?

Through specific conversations we will tap universal wisdom.

We will be exploring together the ancient roots of transcendent experience and the unique role that the arts play in facilitating those experiences. Kim Hermanson, an expert in alternative learning, will use insights from her book Getting Messy and her newest book Deep Knowing to augment our inquiry.

“We now truly stand in need, not only as scientists but as a civilization, of the artist’s cognitive capacities.”

~Arthur Zajonc, physicist

This seminar is recommended for…

  • coaches, therapists, educators and facilitators
  • scholars who want to better understand transformative practices
  • anyone interested in taking a deep dive into their own experiential process

You will:

  • Own your deep knowing.
  • Open channels of non-cognitive wisdom.
  • Expand your range of creative possibilities and potentials.

Although this series is focused around the arts, you do not need to be an artist or in the arts to join us. The wisdom we will be accessing lies deeper than that. By exploring art’s metamorphic power, we will be learning basic principles and ways of knowing for individual growth and social evolution.  Anyone who is interested in transformative process will find this seminar valuable. More than ever, we humans need to be able to touch what’s alive.

Format for each session:

  • 30 minutes: introductory remarks by Kim Hermanson.
  • 40 minutes: dialogue and Q & A with the featured artist.
  • 30 minutes: experiential exercise and group sharing.
  • 20 minutes: closing remarks.
