We are excited to announce that the Holistic Counseling department will be offering programs at John F Kennedy University’s newly renovated Berkeley Campus in the historic Heinz building. Starting in the fall of 2014, this Master of Arts program will build upon its 35-year tradition of providing psychotherapeutic training that integrates mind-body-spirit to offer two specializations – Depth Psychotherapy and Expressive Arts – at this upgraded, state-of-the-art facility.
The Depth Psychotherapy specialization will be the only weekly-contact classroom experience of its kind in. The coursework in Jungian, psychodynamic, and depth psychology will develop students’ knowledge of the role of dreams, imagination, archetypes, myth, and ritual in fostering psychological and spiritual well-being.
We also will be bringing our Expressive Arts Therapy specialization to the Berkeley campus. This specialization offers students the opportunity to explore the integration of the expressive arts including, dance, visual art, music, drama and poetry in their work through content in holistic psychotherapies, depth psychotherapy, expressive arts interventions and humanistic psychology.
Both specializations offer a strong foundation in basic counseling theory and practice while meeting the educational requirements for the California Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) license. With some additional coursework, students can also meet the requirements of the California Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license. The Depth Psychotherapy and Expressive Arts Therapy specializations further emphasize the particular specialties of our passionate faculty, incorporating coursework that brings more focus to the power of images in the transformation of the psyche.
We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2014. Students interested in learning more about these specializations are invited to join us for the upcoming event:
