We will explore the creative process as an expression of embodied soul making. Guided by the image of the erotic play between the sensual body and the sensuous world we will begin with a few experiential exercises to illustrate how the creative process begins with being called into a work, even seduced by it.
Using music, film, story, photography, drawing, movement and poetry to shape a space of reverie, we will then examine the role the embodied unconscious plays in the creative process and present procedures modeled on Jung’s process of active imagination to engage those depths and foster diaue with the inner figures/characters of soul.
We will especially focus on how working with dreams and fantasies in an embodied way allows those figures/characters of soul to become vital companions in creative work. Over the course of the intensive we will identify some of the key elements in the creative process such as the timing and places of writing down the soul, We will also explore other variations of the creative process in addition to writing.
A major goal of the intensive is for participants to experience creative work as memoirs of homecoming, as tales told in many forms of the intertwining of the outer and inner world. Recommended readings will be given prior to each session. The program will be limited to 30 participants.

Robert D. Romanyshyn, Ph.D., is a teacher, writer, and psychotherapist trained in phenomenoy and Jungian psychoy. An Member of the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, he is a Senior Core Faculty Member of the Clinical Psychoy Program at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
