A Poetic Conversation: For fifteen years Rumi’s Caravan has inspired audiences, weaving together poems by Rumi, Hafez, Machado, Rilke, Yeats, Mary Oliver, Joy Harjo, Naomi Shihab Nye, David Whyte and other poets across the world.
The presenters create an improvised poetic conversation with musical accompaniment. Moving through moods of prayer and grief to humor and celebration, the Caravan always highlights the beauty of the spoken word.
All of our performances benefit local non-profit organizations. This year, our third in Oakland, we are proud to partner with the Middle East Children’s Alliance (www.mecaforpeace.org), a superb organization that provides education, medicine and hope for refugee children in Palestine.
Members of Rumi’s Caravan are available for interviews in the East Bay: Please contact Barry Spector at 650-327-5493.
