This Hybrid Online/Residential Program includes a four-week online program with one weekend at Pacifica’s Santa Barbara (Ladera Lane) Campus. It is a unique opportunity to explore Shakespeare in the context of depth psychology, archetype, myth, and dreams with core Pacifica Professor Susan Rowland, and a small group of online learners.
Participants will be guided through a week-by-week syllabus that includes downloadable MP3 lectures, photographs, readings, key Shakespearean websites, and faculty-facilitated small discussion groups.
All lectures and discussions will be taught and facilitated by Susan Rowland, who has published widely on depth psychology and the arts, including Shakespeare and archetypes. Four plays will be studied in relation to dreams, ghosts, magic, and self-transformation using guide reading, active imagination, creative writing, cultural context and experimental performance in Pacifica’s beautiful gardens.
Susan Rowland, Ph.D., is Chair of Pacifica’s M.A. in Engaged Humanities and the Creative Life Program where she teaches on C.G.
