In response to requests for “Dreams 101,” Meredith Sabini will teach this new series showcasing contemporary research and developments with important relevance for everyone. Reading materials for each topic will be on hand. You are welcome to attend single programs or the series as a whole. It will continue throughout the year.

Feb 15 Dreaming Beyond Ourselves
It’s commonly said that dreams mainly concern the dreamer. But empirical evidence now shows how often we dream about others. Guidelines for identifying these dreams will be offered.
March 14 Problem-solving in Dreams
Dreams are a hot research topic after a two-decade lull, thanks to PET scans and findings that verify how much dreaming aids creative problem-solving. We’ll talk about how to apply this in everyday situations.
April 18 Health Benefits of Sleep
Specific ways that a good night’s sleep benefit our immune system are being discovered. Even brief naps can affect longevity, whereas poor sleep and letting children skip naps take both a short-term and long-term toll.
