I am curious if anyone has taken one of the free classes offered by Coursera. If you don't know about it, they are taught by some really noted professors, sponsored by some leading universities.
I enrolled in one in Greek and Roman Mythology that begins Monday, April 22. It's 10 weeks and requires a lot of reading, videos, and forum discussion. Apparently, thousands of people -- well, the instructor says tens of thousands -- have enrolled, which is pretty mind-blowing.

I think it will be interesting to see how it differs from the Jungian treatment of mythology. One thing that's already evident, as has always concerned me, is consideration of historical context.

Thank you for this info. I must've been drinking from the river Lethe.
Thank you for sharing this, Cliff. I also hope you share some of your experiences with this. It is tempting for me to sign up, but I know that I do not have the time in my schedule for this at the moment. I would love to hear if you find this to be a strong learning experience- I may want to sign up for one in the future if they are well run . . .
for example, this course on "Soul Beliefs" looks interesting-

Thank you, Cliff. Very interesting! I hope you will post about your experience with the course.
For me, the historical context is inextricable in understanding and embodying myth, as our place on the earth richly informs our body, soul and psyche.
