Depth Psychology has been my life's work, my calling, yet I didn't know that term existed until about four months ago when I read a dissertation by a Pacifica Graduate Institute alum. As soon as I read the definition of "depth psychology" on Pacifica's website, I felt a resonance in my bones and knew that was where I needed to be. I applied immediately and all sorts of synchronous events began manifesting, pointing me to a vocation of spiritual healing through a foundation in depth psychology.

Yesterday I received my acceptance letter to Pacifica's MA/PhD Depth Psychology program specializing in Jungian and Archetypal studies.

And now, dazzled and drunk on possibilities, this waitress who works nights at the local pizza joint is wondering how the hell she's going to pay $30,000 a year for the next five years without going into crazy debt as she earns her MA and PhD.

If you worked your way through grad school, I would love to hear how you made it through without piles of debt!

Any and all suggestions are helpful!

  • Hello Tarrin McDonald,

congratulations to having been admitted into the MA/PhD program at Pacifica.

You are asking a good question that has also occupied my mind for some time. I wanted to join a Diploma program at one of the institutes in Zürich, the fees are so exorbitantly high that I would have to apply for a loan to do so. My two year Gestalt Training including training analysis and live supervision was around 10,000 Euros in total, so something you can afford without taking loans (if the bank is granting them at all).

My perspective is probably different as higher education in Germany is mostly free, everyone who is being admitted can complete degree courses at universities (only very few are private). Unfortunately, there are no Jungian/Depth Psychology, Gestalt Therapy, Existential Psychotherapy courses at German universities.

So the waitress will have to wait and wait ... probably aiming for some counselling training somewhere else?
