Archetypes have no meaning without historical context. Jungian psychology involves more than reflecting on the past or focusing on otherworldly concepts - it has immediate application to the present, both individually and collectively. The bloody events in Cairo and throughout the Middle East lend themselves to a radical change in geopolitical power and for our purpose, serve as a model of cultural identity and "collective individuation." I invite members who are interested in this intersection between the ancient past and current events in Egypt to join the Online Book Club. Currently, I have posed the question: What do the events in Egypt today have to do with a five thousand year old myth – the myth of Osiris?
